What does a part-time recruiter do?

A part-time recruiter is responsible for sourcing, screening, and recommending candidates for job positions, but works fewer hours than a full-time recruiter. They often coordinate interviews, maintain candidate databases, and assist with onboarding processes. Part-time recruiters may work for staffing agencies, corporations, or as independent consultants, and their schedules are typically more flexible to accommodate other commitments. Their primary goal is to help organizations find and hire qualified talent efficiently.

How does a part-time recruiter typically balance sourcing candidates with other responsibilities, and what strategies can help manage this workload effectively?

Part-time recruiters often juggle multiple tasks, such as sourcing candidates, conducting initial screenings, and coordinating interviews, all within limited hours. To manage this workload efficiently, they frequently rely on applicant tracking systems (ATS) and clear communication with hiring managers to prioritize urgent roles. Setting daily or weekly goals and batching similar tasks can also help maximize productivity. Collaboration with full-time team members ensures alignment and smooth hand-offs, making teamwork and organization essential for success in this role.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Part Time Recruiter, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part Time Recruiter, you need a solid understanding of talent acquisition, candidate screening, and interviewing techniques, often supported by experience in human resources or recruitment. Familiarity with applicant tracking systems (ATS), job boards, and sourcing tools is typically required. Excellent interpersonal skills, adaptability, and strong organizational abilities help set top recruiters apart. These skills and tools are vital for efficiently identifying top candidates and building strong relationships with both clients and job seekers in a flexible work arrangement.

Job description

Role and Responsibilities

We are seeking a Part Time Recruiter to support our oil and gas accounting and land recruiting efforts during a growth volume hiring period.

This role will serve as the frontline recruiter responsible for managing assigned searches and advancing candidates through the hiring process. The recruiter will engage directly with candidates and hiring managers to proactively search, screen, interview, and facilitate hiring decisions while operating within the recruiting structure led by the Vice President of Organizational Development.

This role partners closely with business leaders to assess and support organizational design, organizational development, and talent planning needs. This position is ideal for a recruiting professional with strong analytical skills, experience with ADP, and a deep understanding of both people and process. We are looking for someone who understands the nuances of accounting and finance recruitment, especially within industries like oil & gas or energy services and who can quickly adapt to a fast-paced environment.

You should be someone who embeds themselves with teams and is a strong consultative recruiter that holds the candidateโ€™s experience sacred. We move fast and change is constant, but the day-to-day tasks will include stakeholder management, candidate sourcing, full-cycle recruiting, and project-based work to help scale the talent function.

We have offices in San Antonio, Houston, Tulsa, Ft. Worth, and Dallas. We hope that you'll be interested in joining us.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven selling and closing skills
  • Confident in ADP Recruiting, Excel, and applicant tracking systems
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple openings at once
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize effectively in a part-time, fast-moving role
  • Experience with Compensation frameworks

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION

  • 5+ years of recruiting experience, with at least 2 years focused on accounting or finance roles.
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in HR, Business, or a related field preferred (or equivalent experience).

  • Have successfully recruited and hired for teams with a focus on the following areas: finance and accounting in the oil & gas industry
  • Are able to ramp quickly on new roles
  • You thrive in a high-volume environment and never sacrifice the candidate experience
  • Have experience working in fast growing companies and are comfortable with ambiguity
