Join our Team as a Farmers Market Part-Time Coordinator
CAPI is seeking a passionate and community-focused Farmer's Market Part-Time Coordinator to support the successful operation of the Brooklyn Center Farmer's Market. This role is responsible for coordinating weekly market activities, building relationships with vendors and community members, managing market transactions, and ensuring a welcoming and efficient experience for all participants.
As a member of CAPI's Community Advocacy team, you will serve as a key connection point between community members and resources, helping elevate community voices while supporting access to food, benefits, and other services. We are looking for an individual who is enthusiastic about serving immigrant and refugee communities and committed to creating positive community impact.
Key Responsibilities
Vendor Relations and Communication: Maintain active communication and outreach with market vendors. Educate vendors on SNAP/EBT token systems and market procedures. Welcome and assist vendors with arrival, stall assignments, setup, and attendance tracking. Build strong relationships with vendors and gather feedback to improve the market experience. Provide a welcoming, safe, and supportive environment for vendors and community members.
Financial Tracking and SNAP Administration: Accurately manage daily financial transactions and financial tracking systems. Monitor market funds and ensure daily cash reconciliation. Process SNAP/EBT transactions, distribute tokens, and ensure compliance with program requirements. Verify vendor token submissions and coordinate vendor payments at the end of each market day. Collaborate with finance staff regarding cash management and reporting needs.
Operation and Coordination of Farmers Market: Coordinate all aspects of the weekly Brooklyn Center Farmer's Market. Ensure compliance with City of Brooklyn Center policies, permits, and regulations. Set up and take down market equipment. Prepare market materials, technology, cash supplies, and equipment prior to each event. Serve as the primary contact at the market booth, providing information about CAPI services, market offerings, and available benefits. Enforce market policies and assist in resolving vendor or customer concerns. Support community engagement activities, customer and vendor surveys, and data collection. Assist with special events and community initiatives held at the market. Coordinate with staff, volunteers, and community partners to ensure smooth market operations.
Qualifications
We are looking for individuals with a High School Diploma or equivalent. Candidates with experience in financial tracking, vendor relations, event coordination, farmers markets, community organizing, customer service, or staff supervision are strongly encouraged to apply.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate experience working with diverse communities, particularly immigrant and refugee populations. Bilingual proficiency in Hmong is strongly preferred. Candidates should possess strong interpersonal skills, professional judgment, and the ability to work independently while maintaining attention to detail.
Applicants must be comfortable using Microsoft Office and other technology platforms, have access to reliable transportation, and be comfortable driving a cargo van or larger vehicle. Experience operating large vehicles is preferred.

- Reoccurring Tuesdays (Sept. 29th is final Tuesday) : 3 hrs FM Pre-prep
- Reoccurring Thursdays (Oct.1st is final Thursday) : 7.5 hrs FM Day
- Last shift is Oct. 5th: 4 hrs
