As your initial project assignment, you will support the unique needs of our client as a SharePoint Migration Engineer.
Position Summary

AIS is seeking an experienced SharePoint Migration Engineer to support enterprise modernization initiatives involving the migration of legacy SharePoint environments to Microsoft SharePoint Online. The successful candidate will lead and support all phases of migration efforts, including assessments, planning, execution, remediation, modernization, and post-migration support.


This role requires deep technical expertise in SharePoint Online, migration tools, Power Platform technologies, and PowerShell automation. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills and be capable of collaborating with business stakeholders, project teams, and technical organizations to modernize content, workflows, and business processes while ensuring compliance with governance and security requirements.


Key Responsibilities


SharePoint Online Migration

  • Plan, execute, and support migrations from SharePoint Subscription Edition, SharePoint Server, and other legacy environments to SharePoint Online.

  • Utilize enterprise migration tools such as ShareGate, Metalogix, Migration Manager, and PowerShell-based automation solutions.

  • Conduct pre-migration assessments, content inventories, dependency analysis, and remediation planning.

  • Develop migration strategies, mapping documents, content transformation plans, and validation processes.

  • Diagnose and resolve migration-related issues, including permissions conflicts, throttling, content limitations, unsupported customizations, and workflow dependencies.

  • Perform migration testing, user acceptance validation, and post-migration quality reviews.


Modernization & Solution Enhancement

  • Analyze legacy SharePoint customizations and recommend modern SharePoint Online and Microsoft 365 alternatives.

  • Convert legacy SharePoint Designer workflows, InfoPath forms, and custom solutions into modern Power Platform-based solutions.

  • Assist stakeholders in evaluating and implementing best-fit modernization approaches.

  • Partner with business users to redesign outdated processes using cloud-native capabilities.

  • Support migration from classic SharePoint experiences to modern SharePoint experiences and architecture.


Power Platform Development

  • Design, develop, and support Power Apps solutions integrated with SharePoint lists, libraries, Microsoft 365 services, and external data sources.

  • Develop Power Automate workflows to automate business processes and replace legacy workflow technologies.

  • Implement and maintain governance-aligned Power Platform solutions following organizational standards and best practices.

  • Support application lifecycle management (ALM), deployment automation, and solution versioning.

  • Configure and troubleshoot On-Premises Data Gateway integrations when required.


Content Management & Information Architecture

  • Advise customers on content cleanup, site restructuring, metadata optimization, and records management practices.

  • Configure and administer SharePoint Online sites, hubs, permissions, navigation, and information architecture.

  • Implement governance, compliance, and user experience standards across SharePoint environments.

  • Develop content classification, taxonomy, content types, and metadata strategies to improve usability and searchability.

  • Collaborate with site owners and business stakeholders to align solutions with organizational objectives.


PowerShell Automation

  • Develop and maintain PowerShell automation using PnP.PowerShell, Microsoft Graph, CSOM, and related technologies.

  • Create scripts for migration activities, reporting, provisioning, bulk updates, permission management, and site administration.

  • Troubleshoot PowerShell execution issues, API integrations, and automation failures.

  • Maintain reusable script libraries, documentation, and automation frameworks.

  • Support custom migration automation and large-scale site provisioning initiatives.


Collaboration & Customer Support

  • Work closely with project managers, technical teams, administrators, and business stakeholders to gather requirements and communicate project status.

  • Provide post-migration support, issue remediation, training, and knowledge transfer activities.

  • Develop technical documentation, migration runbooks, governance guidance, and operational procedures.

  • Participate in project planning sessions, technical reviews, and solution design discussions.

  • Support continuous improvement efforts related to Microsoft 365 collaboration technologies.


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

  • 8+ years of experience supporting Microsoft collaboration technologies and SharePoint environments.

  • 5+ years of experience administering and supporting SharePoint Online and Microsoft 365 solutions.

  • 3+ years of experience performing SharePoint migration projects using ShareGate, Metalogix, Migration Manager, or similar migration platforms.

  • Strong knowledge of SharePoint Online architecture, modern site templates, permissions models, lists, libraries, content management, and governance.

  • Hands-on experience developing solutions using Power Apps and Power Automate.

  • Experience replacing SharePoint Designer workflows and InfoPath forms with modern Microsoft 365 solutions.

  • Advanced proficiency with PowerShell scripting for SharePoint administration, migration, and automation.

  • Experience utilizing PnP.PowerShell, Microsoft Graph API, and CSOM.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365 services including Teams, OneDrive for Business, Exchange Online, and Power Platform.

  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Experience working in Agile and collaborative project environments.

  • Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.

The targeted base salary range for this role is $100,000-$150,000 per year.
