Job description

The Data Migration Lead will lead the planning and execution of a large-scale migration from legacy systems to a modern Azure and Power Platform solution. This role ensures business-critical data is analyzed, mapped, transformed, validated, and migrated while maintaining data quality, integrity, and usability throughout the effort.

The Lead will work with client stakeholders and technical teams to understand legacy applications, data structures, business processes, and operational requirements. They will perform source system discovery, data profiling, and dependency analysis to develop a migration strategy, roadmap, and validation approach. During execution, the Lead will oversee analysts and migration specialists, coordinating data mapping, cleansing, transformation, validation, reconciliation, and cutover activities to keep delivery aligned with schedule and quality goals. They will also provide technical oversight and hands-on development for complex migration routines and collaborate with application, integration, reporting, testing, and business teams to align migration waves with Agile delivery priorities. The ideal candidate combines leadership, analytical thinking, technical knowledge, and strong communication skills.

Required Skills
  • Bachelor''s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Management, Business, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience leading or managing enterprise data migration, data conversion, or data modernization initiatives.
  • Experience migrating data from legacy case management, records management, or workflow systems.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure data services and cloud-based data platforms.
  • Experience with Azure Data Factory and cloud-based ETL/data integration solutions.
  • Experience designing or overseeing data migration pipelines using Azure-based services.
  • Experience with Azure SQL, Azure Storage, Dataverse, and related Microsoft data platform technologies.
  • Experience supporting implementations involving Microsoft Power Platform, Dataverse, or Dynamics-style solutions.
  • Experience working within Agile software development environments and coordinating activities across multiple delivery teams.
  • Experience developing data migration strategies, plans, schedules, and governance processes.
  • Strong understanding of data profiling, data quality management, cleansing, transformation, and validation techniques.
  • Strong project planning, organizational, and risk management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience facilitating workshops, stakeholder interviews, and requirements-gathering sessions.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required government clearances, if applicable.
  • Willingness to work onsite in Washington, DC during the discovery and planning phase of the project
