We are currently seeking a Legacy Migration Analyst to join our team in Springfield, Illinois (US-IL), United States (US).

Overview of job:  

NTT DATA is seeking a Legacy Migration Analyst to join the IL PASS Project team to assist the State of Illinois with strategic planning and modernization activities for the Medicaid Enterprise System (MES). The Legacy Migration Analyst will be responsible for overseeing the migration of data and applications from legacy mainframe systems to the new Medicaid Enterprise System (MES). This senior-level position requires a deep understanding of mainframe legacy systems, particularly Mainframe Medicaid Management Information Systems (MMIS), and a proven track record in data migration projects. The ideal candidate will have 8 to 10 years of experience in legacy migration, data analysis, and project management, with a strong focus on ensuring data integrity and compliance throughout the migration process. 

Job Responsibilities Include: 

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of existing mainframe legacy systems, including data structures, workflows, and applications, to understand migration requirements. 

  • Develop and document detailed migration strategies, including data mapping specifications and transformation processes, to ensure accurate data transfer to the new MES. 

  • Coordinate with cross-functional project teams, including data analysts, developers, and business stakeholders, to facilitate the smooth execution of data migration activities. 

  • Execute data extraction and migration processes, ensuring data quality and integrity through rigorous validation and cleansing procedures. 

  • Monitor and track the progress of migration activities, identifying potential risks and issues, and implementing mitigation strategies as needed. 

  • Conduct testing and validation of migrated data to ensure it meets functional and compliance requirements, and confirm successful integration into the new system. 

  • Prepare and present analytical reports on migration progress, challenges encountered, and recommendations for improvement to stakeholders. 

  • Collaborate with project management to align migration activities with project timelines and milestones, ensuring timely completion of deliverables. 

  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices in data migration and legacy system modernization, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement. 

 Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. 

  • 5 – 7 years of experience in legacy migration analysis, data management, or project coordination, with a strong focus on mainframe legacy systems or mainframe MMIS. 

  • Experience with Medicaid Management Information Systems (MMIS) and an understanding of Medicaid policies and regulations. 

  • Proven experience in data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes, with a solid understanding of data mapping and data quality principles. 

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess data quality, identify discrepancies, and implement effective solutions. 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at various levels. 

  • Proficiency in data migration tools, databases, and scripting languages relevant to legacy system migrations. 

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively. 

 Preferred Skills: 

  • Certification in data management, data analysis, or a related field (e.g., CDMP, CAPM). 

  • Familiarity with automated migration tools and frameworks that facilitate legacy system transitions. 

  • Ability to conduct training sessions and knowledge-sharing workshops to support team members and stakeholders during the migration process. 

  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development within the fields of data migration and MES modernization. 

Where required by law, NTT DATA provides a reasonable range of compensation for specific roles. The starting pay range for this remote role is $101,400 - $169,000. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target compensation for the position across all US locations. Actual compensation will depend on a number of factors, including the candidate’s actual work location, relevant experience, technical skills, and other qualifications. This position may also be eligible for incentive compensation based on individual and/or company performance. 
This position is eligible for company benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance with an employer contribution, flexible spending or health savings account, life and AD&D insurance, short and long term disability coverage, paid time off, employee assistance, participation in a 401k program with company match, and additional voluntary or legally-required benefits.
