Job Title: Atlassian Migration Specialist (Lead)

Location: McLean, VA (5 days onsite)

FTE with Hexaware

We are seeking an experienced Atlassian Migration Specialist to lead the migration of Atlassian tools (such as Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, and Jira Service Management) from on-premise (Server/Data Center) environments to Atlassian Cloud.

The ideal candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, security, and development, to assess, plan, execute, and validate migrations while addressing customizations, data integrity, and security compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end migration projects from on-premise Atlassian instances to Cloud, including assessment, planning, execution, testing, and post-migration optimization.
  • Utilize Atlassian migration tools such as Jira Cloud Migration Assistant, Confluence Cloud Migration Assistant, and Bitbucket Cloud Migration Assistant to migrate data, configurations, apps, and workflows.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of current on-premise setups to identify data quality issues, customizations, integrations, and potential risks; perform data cleanup and consolidation as needed.
  • Integrate Atlassian Cloud with identity and access management (IAM) tools, including configuring SSO (SAML/OIDC) with Ping Identity and user/group provisioning with SailPoint connectors.
  • Handle app migrations, including third-party apps with automated pathways, and resolve any compatibility or configuration challenges

What we re looking for:

  • Proven experience migrating Atlassian tools to the cloud
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, and JSM
  • Experience with SSO and identity/access management
  • Familiarity with migration tools and complex enterprise environments
  • Scripting or automation experience (Groovy or JavaScript)
  • Understanding of Forge cloud
  • Understanding of cloud security and best practices

Nice to have:

  • Atlassian certifications
  • Experience with large-scale or enterprise migrations
  • Exposure to cloud platforms or integration tools
