What You'll Do:
  • Screen and process all incoming calls and schedule patient appointments, including prior authorizing diagnostic studies, consultations, and referrals with other physicians as directed by the physician.
  • Verify that all patient and insurance information is complete and accurate and that referrals are on file and up-to-date as indicated by the patient's insurance policy.
  • Collect all co-pays and payments due on patient's account.
  • Schedule and prior authorize diagnostic studies, consultations and referrals with other physicians as directed by the physician providing copies of necessary documentation for these appointments.
  • Run missing charges reports, claim edit and unapplied credit reports, and credit card reports.
  • In accordance with established procedures, copy and forward medical record requests upon receipt of appropriate release of information.
  • Process, scan, and file incoming, outgoing, and interdepartmental correspondence, diagnostic reports, pathology reports and other associated paperwork to their designated areas.
What We're Looking For:
Required:
  • High School Graduate
  • Prior experience in a medical office
  • Typing and computer skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work independently
Preferred:
  • 1-3 years' experience in a medical office
  • Experience with Meditech or other electronic medical records system.
  • Medical Terminology.
  • Knowledge of insurance policies and guidelines, and confidentiality policies and procedures.
