Job description

Role Overview

The Material Management Assistant Manager supports and oversees comprehensive material control activities for Battery System Assembly (BSA) operations, including material purchasing, inventory management, and logistics coordination. This role plays a key part in establishing and sustaining effective material management systems for new and existing projects, ensuring materials are available to support production requirements at the right cost, quality, and timing. The position collaborates closely with crossfunctional teams to optimize material flow, implement operating standards, and support stable production operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (To perform within this position successfully, the incumbent must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.)

  • Support and oversee endtoend material control processes, including purchasing, inventory management, and logistics operations for BSA production.
  • Participate in the development, modification, and implementation of material management systems, standards, and operating procedures for new and existing projects.
  • Ensure materials are available to the production line at the right time, cost, and quality to support production targets.
  • Coordinate closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, Purchasing, and Logistics teams to align material flow with operational requirements.
  • Monitor inventory levels, material movements, and logistics performance to identify risks and improvement opportunities.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to material flow efficiency, inventory accuracy, and cost control.
  • Assist in managing resources, priorities, and communication to ensure stakeholders remain informed and aligned.
  • Perform additional material management responsibilities as assigned by the Department Head or Manager.

This role operates within defined corporate policies and procedures and exercises judgment appropriate to its level of responsibility. The position may influence decisions related to functional operations, processes, or recommendations and escalate matters as required

Qualifications (The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required and preferred for this position.)

Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in manufacturing, logistics, industrial operations, or material management.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting or leading operational processes in fastpaced manufacturing environments.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of automotive material flow concepts, including inventory control and production support.
  • Ability to analyze material requirements and support purchasing, logistics, and inventory decisionmaking.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problemsolving skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with crossfunctional teams and support multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.

Preferred Education & Experience:

  • Detailed knowledge of JustInSequence (JIS) and automotive material flow processes.
  • Experience working with SAP (PP/MM/SD modules) and MES systems.
  • Understanding of material cost structures, inventory valuation, and basic accounting or financial principles.
  • Experience in material purchasing, logistics coordination, packaging design, and stock control.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Background in automotive materials purchasing or logistics with strong familiarity with industry standards and practices

Working Conditions: This position is primarily office-based and may require frequent standing/walking; occasional lifting up to 35 lbs. Walking and operating around machinery, PIT, ESD-sensitive components, and chemicals with appropriate PPE.
