Position Summary
The Manager, Business Development (Transactions/Partnership) works within the Business Development and Strategic Services department within MemorialCare to support overall growth and development initiatives, partnership management, strategic planning and ancillary development. Reporting to the Director, Business Development (Transactions/Partnership), this role provides internal consulting, business analysis, and overall leadership related to strategic business development projects and post-acquisition/joint venture activities. The Manager, Business Development (Transactions/Partnership) is expected to manage timelines, resources and budgets to support strategic, business development and partnership activities in key service lines and programs and is accountable for the success of system implementations, process improvements, and overall benefits realization. The Manager, Business Development (Transactions/Partnership) functions as a key point of customer service for strategic partnerships and is accountable for partner satisfaction and overall success of strategic partnerships to foster business development and growth within MemorialCare. The Manager, Business Development (Transactions/Partnership) will exercise leadership in preparing analytical reports and making recommendations to management to further the goals, growth initiatives and foster positive working relationships with outside business partners.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job
  • Manages strategic partnerships, joint ventures and new business development activities to support ongoing delivery of the business functions through all phases of partnership post-acquisition/partnership integration
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for strategic partnerships to evaluate and troubleshoot partnership issues to assure effective delivery of services per the terms of applicable management contracts and related agreements and in concert with overall business plans/pro formas for specific ventures/partnerships.
  • Serve as the receiving handoff point from the business integration team to align ongoing business functions of new ventures/developments and assure plans are carried out in the fully integrated business environment.
  • Manage all phases of multi-year and multi-million dollar investments to ensure achievement of objectives, timetables, budget, and overall success of strategic partnerships.
  • Define and develop standard reports and standard work to maintain ongoing success of strategic relationships, partnerships and new business development initiatives.
  • Research and hold partnerships accountable to industry benchmarks; develop and implement an ongoing evaluation and review process for strategic projects and/or partnerships.
  • Serve as the lead team member to identify and develop new and improved processes and tools that will enhance the partnership management function.
  • Attend meetings and participate in organizational activities with various outside partners, (e.g. quarterly review meetings, project management workstreams, board meetings and other governing processes) as a key leader to ensure effective collaboration.
  • Act as a liaison between the business development function and the operating units of the Foundation and the hospitals to resolve complex problems or issues that might hinder success of the partnership/investment.
  • Develop and maintain an awareness of the ambulatory healthcare landscape, newly emerging care models, managed care and ACO models, and clinic-based and ancillary services to provide sound advice and relevant expertise for the effective integration of such capabilities into MemorialCare.
  • Identify new process design or assignments as required to address new or emergent situations.
  • Assure activities are managed in conjunction with physician partners and other outside parties are conducted in such a manner to comply with Stark, Anti-kickback, Anti-trust and any other applicable regulations.

*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications/Work Experience:
  • 5 years of experience in a progressive healthcare organization with an emphasis on ancillary services and management of independent physician associations or medical groups.
  • Evidence of leadership, creativity, integrity, initiative, and problem solving.
  • Evidence of the ability to plan, execute and evaluate change.
  • In depth understanding of key areas of the healthcare business, particularly in an ambulatory care setting.
  • History of managing complex business relationships/partnership and leveraging data to support overall performance management
  • Strong interpersonal, written, verbal and presentation skills.
  • Strong fiscal management
  • Ability to problem solve operational and regulatory issues
  • Ability to motivate and lead team of highly educated and skilled direct reports.
  • Ability to use the necessary software systems needed to evaluated data, write memos, etc.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in budgets, data analytics, staffing and development, partnership/client collaboration, ROI analysis and projections.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and/or enhance strong teams with trust, respect, inclusiveness and open communication regarding program issues and results.
  • Demonstrates responsibility, accountability, discretion and sound judgment. Organizes workload to provide reliable follow-through and accountability to deadlines / timelines.

Education/Licensure/Certification:
  • B.S. degree in a healthcare or business field. Master's degree strongly preferred
