Position Overview
The Learning Coach is the primary adult responsible for the daily operation of an online learning classroom. While not serving as the teacher of record, the Learning Coach ensures students are actively engaged, making progress toward academic graduation requirements, and receiving the support they need to successfully complete their online courses. This role blends classroom management, academic coaching, and progress monitoring to help students develop the skills and habits of successful learners.
Key Responsibilities
Classroom Leadership
- Manage the daily schedule and environment for an assigned online learning classroom.
- Maintain a positive, focused, and productive learning atmosphere.
- Ensure students are actively working and meeting class expectations.
Academic Support
- Provide real-time assistance to students as they complete online coursework, answering questions and clarifying concepts.
- Support students in developing skills for independent learning, such as time management, organization, and study strategies.
- Help students troubleshoot technical issues with the online learning platform.
Progress Monitoring & Accountability
- Track student participation, pacing, and completion of online courses daily.
- Identify students who are falling behind and coordinate targeted interventions.
- Monitor progress toward academic graduation requirements and communicate updates to students, staff, and families.
Collaboration & Student Success
- The Life Coach and other staff to align academic and non-academic supports.
- Participate in student support meetings and contribute to plans for improved academic outcomes.

Qualifications
- Associateโs or bachelorโs degree in education, youth development, or a related field (preferred).
- Experience working with high schoolโaged or young adult learners, especially in alternative education or online learning settings.
- Strong classroom management skills and ability to build positive relationships.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and skilled in tracking student progress.

Work Environment & Schedule
This position operates in a school environment with both morning and afternoon class sessions. Occasional evening or weekend events may be required.
