AspectIntern Administration
CredentialsTypically pursuing or recent graduates; some internships may require coursework in business or administration
Work EnvironmentEducational institutions, corporate offices, non-profits; often temporary or part-time
Employer UsageOrganizations offering internship programs to train future professionals

Intern Administration roles are designed for students or recent graduates gaining practical experience, often with limited responsibilities. While both roles support organizational operations, Intern Administration positions focus on learning and development, whereas Administrative Assistants handle ongoing administrative tasks.

What does an Intern in Administration do?

An Intern in Administration typically assists with a variety of office tasks to support the smooth operation of an organization. Their duties may include organizing files, scheduling appointments, handling correspondence, and helping with data entry or basic project work. This role provides valuable hands-on experience in office management, communication, and organizational skills. Interns often work closely with administrative staff and may be given opportunities to learn about different business functions.

Is 22 too old for an internship?

Intern Administration internships are typically open to a wide age range, and 22 is generally not considered too old. Many interns are in their early to mid-20s, and age does not usually disqualify candidates if they meet the required skills and qualifications for the role.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Intern in Administration, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Intern in Administration, you need strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and basic proficiency with office software such as Microsoft Office Suite, often supported by ongoing studies in business or a related field. Excellent communication, time management, and a proactive attitude help interns stand out in supporting team operations. These skills and qualities are important for efficiently managing administrative tasks, ensuring accurate documentation, and contributing positively to a productive office environment.

How to be an administrative assistant with no experience?

To become an administrative assistant with no experience, focus on developing strong organizational, communication, and computer skills, especially proficiency in office software like Microsoft Office. Entry-level positions often value a positive attitude, willingness to learn, and basic knowledge of administrative tasks, which can be gained through online courses or volunteering. Gaining relevant certifications or internships can also improve your chances of securing an administrative assistant role.

Is 20 an hour good for an intern?

For an intern in administration, earning $20 an hour is above the average internship pay, which typically ranges from minimum wage to around $15 per hour. However, pay rates vary based on location, industry, and the intern's experience level, so it may be considered competitive in some areas and less so in others.
