Human Resources Assistant

Position Summary

The Human Resources Assistant plays a key role in supporting the Human Resources team by providing exceptional customer service and administrative support across all HR functions. This position is responsible for maintaining employee records, assisting with payroll and benefits administration, supporting recruiting and onboarding activities, and ensuring compliance with company policies and employment regulations.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, maintains strict confidentiality, and enjoys working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while supporting employees throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Human Resources Administration

  • Maintain accurate and organized employee records within the Human Resources Information System (HRIS).
  • Process employment verification requests.
  • Prepare reports, perform monthly audits, identify discrepancies, and maintain data integrity.
  • Assist with employee data updates and personnel changes.
  • Maintain confidential employee information in accordance with company policies.

Employee Support

  • Serve as the first point of contact for employee questions regarding payroll, benefits, policies, and HR procedures.
  • Respond promptly to inquiries via phone, email, and in person.
  • Provide outstanding customer service while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Help employees understand company policies, procedures, and available benefits.

Recruiting & Onboarding

  • Support recruiting activities by entering applicants into the HRIS.
  • Schedule interviews and coordinate candidate communications.
  • Assist with new hire onboarding, including completion of I-9 documentation and E-Verify.
  • Participate in career fairs and recruiting events.
  • Coordinate pre-employment administrative activities for temporary employees and new hires.

Payroll & Benefits Support

  • Assist with payroll-related employee updates.
  • Support benefits administration and employee enrollment activities.
  • Maintain payroll and benefits documentation.
  • Assist HR staff with benefit communications and employee questions.

HR Programs & Communication

  • Assist with monthly safety training and HR meetings.
  • Coordinate meeting logistics, including meal orders and employee recognition items.
  • Produce employee newsletters, safety communications, wellness updates, and Drug-Free Workplace newsletters.
  • Organize on-site blood drives and employee wellness initiatives.
  • Maintain emergency evacuation lists, bulletin boards, and employee communications.

General HR Support

  • Attend HR meetings and maintain HR documentation.
  • Assist with compliance reporting and employment law documentation.
  • Cross-train with HR team members to provide backup support.
  • Complete additional HR projects and administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 2+ years of Human Resources experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including:

  • Experience maintaining confidential employee information.
