Job description

Job Summary The Housing Operations Specialist within Housing provides administrative, programmatic, and operational support to the Pascua Yaqui Housing Department. This role assists in managing housing services, ensuring compliance with federal regulations under the Native American Housing Assistance and Self-Determination Act (NAHASDA), U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) requirements, and Pascua Yaqui Tribal policies

The position supports Tribal members with housing-related needs while upholding the values, sovereignty, and service priorities of the Pascua Yaqui Tribe. Principle Duties and Responsibilities Provide administrative support for Pascua Yaqui Housing programs, including supervision, filing, data entry, and records management in accordance with Tribal policies. Support compliance with HUD regulations, NAHASDA, Indian Housing Block Grant (IHBG) requirements, and Pascua Yaqui Tribal ordinances.

Maintain accurate payroll files, participant records, and program documentation in housing management systems. Coordinate communication between management, contractors, vendors, and Housing Department staff. Assist with purchasing, maintenance coordination, and order tracking.

Assist with reports required for HUD, Tribal Council, and internal program monitoring. Support community outreach, housing workshops, and participant briefings for Tribal members. Ensure confidentiality and secure handling of sensitive personal and financial information.

Provide customer service to Tribal members and respond to housing-related inquiries in a respectful and culturally appropriate manner. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of and respect for Pascua Yaqui culture, traditions, and community values. Cultural sensitivity and ability to work effectively with Tribal members.

Attention to detail and accuracy in recordkeeping and compliance documentation. Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a government program environment. Problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

Experience working with the Pascua Yaqui Tribe or other Tribal governments. Familiarity with housing management software (e.g., kanso, or similar systems used in Tribal housing programs). Understanding of Indian Housing Block Grant (IHBG) program operations and reporting

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and data management systems. Operate a variety of office equipment, including a computer and related software applications; Strong communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with co-workers, supervisor, management, Council members, and the public. Have ability to sufficiently exchange or convey information and receive verbal and written work instructions.

Education, Certifications and Experience Required Associate degree with at least three (3) years of supervisory experience, or any combination of education and work experience that would enable an individual to satisfactorily perform the duties of the position. 1-3 years of administrative, housing, or Tribal program experience preferred. Knowledge of NAHASDA, HUD regulations, and Tribal housing program requirements is highly desirable.

Bilingual skills (Yaqui and/or Spanish preferred depending on community needs). Special Requirements: Must have a current Level 1 Arizona Clearance Card, Tribal Gaming License, and Homeland Security Background Check or be able to obtain one within ninety (90) days of hire. Failure to maintain a current Level 1 Clearance Card will result in termination.
