How much do hourly program management jobs pay per year?

As of Jul 9, 2026, the average yearly pay for hourly program management in the United States is $107,460.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $79,500.00 and $132,500.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What is a good hourly rate for a project manager?

For hourly program management roles, project managers typically earn between $30 and $100 per hour, depending on experience, industry, and location. Entry-level positions may start around $30–50 per hour, while experienced project managers with certifications like PMP can earn $70–100 or more per hour. Rates also vary based on project complexity and whether the role is freelance or salaried converted to hourly.

How does an Hourly Program Management role typically interact with cross-functional teams on a daily basis?

In an Hourly Program Management role, you'll frequently collaborate with departments such as operations, finance, and human resources to coordinate project timelines and resolve daily challenges. Expect to attend regular meetings, communicate progress updates, and ensure all stakeholders are aligned toward project goals. Building strong relationships with team members is key, as you'll often mediate between groups to address bottlenecks or adjust schedules. This collaborative environment helps ensure that programs run smoothly and objectives are met efficiently.

How many hours do program managers work?

Program managers typically work full-time hours, often around 40 hours per week, but may occasionally work additional hours to meet project deadlines or handle urgent issues. The schedule can vary depending on the organization, project scope, and industry demands, with some roles requiring flexibility or overtime.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Hourly Program Manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Hourly Program Manager, you need strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and experience in coordinating schedules and resources, often supported by a background in business or project management. Familiarity with project management software (like Asana or Trello), time-tracking tools, and basic budgeting is typically required. Excellent communication, adaptability, and problem-solving abilities help individuals excel in this role. These skills are crucial for ensuring programs run smoothly, resources are used efficiently, and team members remain aligned with project goals.

What is the difference between Hourly Program Management vs Project Coordinator?

AspectHourly Program ManagementProject Coordinator
CredentialsRelevant certifications (e.g., PMP), experience in program oversightOften requires basic project management or administrative experience
Work EnvironmentOversees multiple projects, strategic planningSupports project teams, handles day-to-day tasks
Employer UsageUsed in organizations managing multiple related projectsCommon in various industries for supporting project execution

Hourly Program Management involves overseeing multiple projects with strategic oversight, often requiring certifications like PMP. Project Coordinators focus on supporting individual projects with administrative tasks. While both roles support project success, Hourly Program Managers handle broader program objectives, whereas Project Coordinators assist with specific project activities.

What jobs pay 4000 a week without a degree?

In hourly program management roles, high-paying positions such as project managers or consultants can reach $4,000 weekly with extensive experience, strong organizational skills, and certifications like PMP. These roles often involve overseeing projects, coordinating teams, and require excellent communication and time management. Freelance or contract work in related fields may also achieve this income level without a degree.

What are the 4 types of project managers?

In project management, four common types of project managers are functional, projectized, matrix, and hybrid. Functional managers work within departments, projectized managers lead dedicated teams, matrix managers balance both functional and project responsibilities, and hybrid combines elements of these approaches. Each type requires different skills and organizational structures to effectively deliver projects.

What is hourly program management?

Hourly program management refers to the oversight and coordination of projects or programs on an hourly basis rather than a salaried or fixed contract. Professionals in this role manage tasks such as scheduling, budgeting, and communication between teams, and are typically paid for the actual hours worked. This approach offers flexibility for both employers and employees, making it suitable for short-term projects or fluctuating workloads. Hourly program managers often track their hours and deliverables closely to ensure transparency and effective resource allocation.

Job description

Who We Are

We are an award-winning independent creative solutions company that aspires to be the most culturally-influential company in the world. We help ambitious brands harness the power of culture to solve their biggest challenges. As a unique mix of experts in culture, technology, and storytelling, we are united by a passion to grow brands in ways that advertising alone can never do.

We are an entrepreneurial business - not a traditional "ad agency." That means we value resourcefulness and tenacity just as much as we value creativity and intelligence. We're unapologetically ambitious.

We are looking for talented Program Managers to join Translation.

What Translation+ Is

Translation+ is our pre-vetted bench of elite freelance talent - the people we call on first when our core team is at capacity or a project demands a very specific skill set. This isn't a cold roster of names we found on a platform. This is a curated circle of trusted collaborators who we know, whose work we believe in, and who we treat as a true extension of our team.

What being a part of Translation+ means:
You're first in line when opportunities open up - no cold pitching, no competing.
We already know your work - you get the brief and we get moving.
You're a true addition to our team, not a vendor we found in the 11th hour - making our work and our people better.

What You'll Do

Program Management at Translation is what keeps complex, fast-moving work from falling apart - and what allows the best creative thinking to actually reach the finish line. Our Program Managers bring structure, clarity, and operational rigor to multi-workstream projects, working across internal teams as well as delivering back to clients. From scoping and scheduling to resource coordination, workflow management, cross-functional alignment, Program Managers keep internal and external stakeholders informed and accountable. Program Managers are the reason things get done - and done right. Whether you're a senior program director who's run large-scale integrated campaigns across multiple agency partners, a mid-level PM who excels at keeping creative and strategy teams in sync, or an organized, detail-obsessed coordinator who knows how to turn chaos into a clear plan - if you understand how creative agencies work and know how to make them run better, we want you on our bench.

How We Engage

We keep our process simple and intentional - because your time matters. Here's what to expect:

Step 1 - Screener Interview A conversation with someone from our Talent team to get to know you, understand your background, and make sure we're aligned on what you're looking for.

Step 2 - Department Interview A deeper conversation with a hiring manager in your area of expertise. This is where we really dig into your work, your experience, and how you operate.

Step 3 - The Decision Once both conversations are done, we make our call. If it's a fit, we bring you onto the bench - and that means something. You're in.

Step 4 - Getting Set Up If there's an immediate need, we'll have you complete the necessary paperwork right away to get you set up in our systems. If there isn't, we'll reach out when a project comes up and provide everything you need to get started at that time. This is a one-time process, and completing it upfront helps us move quickly when the right opportunity comes along.

Step 5 - We'll Be In Touch From there, we'll reach out when an opportunity aligned with your skills and experience becomes available. We'll share the details, and if the timing, availability, and rate work for you, we'll get to work!

On Rates

Rates vary based on the scope, duration, and complexity of each engagement, and are grounded in our full-time salary bands so you know we're coming to you seriously. We'll always be upfront about what we have - from there, it's yours to take if it makes sense for you. No pressure, no obligation. We just ask for a straight answer so we can keep things moving.
