Job description

Head of Business Development - Enterprise

Location: Bay Area / San Mateo, CA

Employment Type: Full-Time

Department: GTM / Sales

About Us

Deccan AI is a startup headquartered in the Bay Area, with a delivery office in Hyderabad. We are founded by IIT Bombay, IIM Ahmedabad, and ex-Google alumni, and we work with leading AI labs and Enterprises teams to build high quality AI training data and AI applications. We are looking for people who can operate with urgency, write clearly, build trust, and turn ambiguity into outcomes.

About the Role

We are hiring a Head of Business Development - Enterprise to build Deccan’s enterprise business development motion.

This is a senior GTM role for someone who can open the right doors, create trust with enterprise decision-makers, and turn Deccan’s enterprise AI thesis into real commercial opportunities. Deccan sees a large opportunity in applying AI to BPO, back-office operations, and scaled enterprise workflows. The hard part is not only building the capability; it is getting into the right rooms early enough, understanding how enterprise buyers think, and shaping opportunities.

You own senior relationship access, enterprise pipeline creation, commercial strategy, and the business-development motion that brings the right enterprise problems to Deccan.

You should be comfortable talking about AI, data, operations, and transformation with senior stakeholders, but you do not need to be the person designing the technical system. You do need to be credible enough to know which conversations matter, when to bring in technical leaders, and how to turn a vague enterprise interest in AI into a scoped opportunity Deccan can pursue.

What You’ll Do
  • Build Deccan’s enterprise BD motion across AI-first operations, BPO disruption, back-office automation, and enterprise workflow transformation.
  • Open senior doors with enterprise buyers, operators, transformation leaders, and executives in the Bay Area, Fortune 500, and relevant services / operations ecosystems.
  • Identify enterprise opportunities before they become commoditized RFPs, especially in workflows like invoice processing, support operations, compliance, finance ops, data operations, and other scaled back-office functions.
  • Develop a relationship map across target accounts: economic buyers, transformation leaders, operations leaders, procurement, technology sponsors, and internal champions.
  • Partner with the Head of Enterprise AI to translate enterprise pain points into credible AI-enabled solutions, pilots, and deployment paths.
  • Build a repeatable enterprise pipeline: target-account strategy, warm introductions, executive conversations, follow-up materials, opportunity qualification, and pilot-to-production motion.
  • Create clear account narratives: why Deccan, why now, what problem we solve, what value the customer can expect, and what a first pilot should prove.
What We’re Looking For

We are looking for a senior enterprise rainmaker who combines relationship depth with business-building judgment.

  • well-networked to open senior enterprise conversations that Deccan would not otherwise access;
  • commercially sharp to identify which opportunities can become real revenue and which are exploratory noise;
  • enterprise-fluent to understand how Fortune 500 buyers, procurement teams, transformation leaders, and operations executives make decisions;
  • AI-literate to discuss model training, evaluations, automation, human-in-the-loop workflows, and AI-enabled operations without pretending to be the technical architect;
  • structured to build account plans, stakeholder maps, follow-up notes, opportunity briefs, and clear next steps;
  • high-agency to create a pipeline from scratch without waiting for inbound demand;
  • direct to push back on vague customer interest, weak pilots, unrealistic timelines, or opportunities that do not fit Deccan’s strengths;
  • collaborative to partner tightly with technical, delivery, and engagement teams without blurring ownership.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 6+ years of experience in enterprise business development, strategic sales, partnerships, GTM leadership, services sales, BPO / operations sales, enterprise software sales, AI / data sales, or a similar senior commercial role.
  • A strong network across the Bay Area, enterprise technology, Fortune 500 buyers, services / BPO, operations leadership, or AI transformation ecosystems.
  • Experience selling or originating complex enterprise work where the solution involved operations, data, automation, AI, software, services, or workflow transformation.
  • Ability to sell consultatively into ambiguous problems, not just pitch a fixed product.
  • Experience building pipeline from warm relationships, executive access, ecosystem mapping, and strategic account development.
  • Strong written communication; you can turn a relationship or conversation into a crisp opportunity brief and follow-up plan.
  • Comfort working with technical leaders and customer stakeholders without needing every answer yourself.
  • Experience in a fast-moving startup or high-ambiguity environment where GTM motion is still being built.
  • Bay Area presence or willingness to work closely with the San Mateo team and US enterprise customers.
Success in This Role Looks Like
  • Deccan gets into enterprise AI and operations conversations it would otherwise miss.
  • The company has a clear target-account map and enterprise pipeline for AI-first operations, BPO disruption, and back-office workflow transformation.
  • Enterprise opportunities are qualified early: right buyer, real pain, clear pilot path, credible commercial potential.
  • The Head of Enterprise AI is pulled into the right technical conversations at the right time, instead of being used as generic sales support.
  • Deccan sees relevant RFPs, transformation initiatives, and workflow-modernization opportunities before they become fully commoditized.
  • Enterprise pilots have stronger business sponsors, clearer success criteria, and a more credible expansion path.
  • Deccan begins to build a repeatable enterprise business-development motion instead of relying only on ad hoc introductions.
Why Join Deccan AI

At Deccan AI, you will work close to the frontier of AI model training, evaluation, and scaled human-data operations while helping build a new enterprise practice from the ground up. This is a high-agency role for someone who wants to build the commercial motion, not just inherit a territory. You will help define where Deccan plays in enterprise AI, which senior relationships matter, how customers should think about AI-first operations, and how early conversations become durable revenue. If you are excited by enterprise relationships, AI-driven operations, commercial strategy, and the chance to build a serious business-development motion from zero to one, we would like to meet you.
