The Role at a Glance

Lincoln Financial's Finance Development Program (FDP) is a high-impact rotational experience designed to accelerate the growth of finance professionals and build future finance leaders. Participants complete four nine-month rotations through key finance areas — including Business Unit Finance (Retail, Life or Annuities, and Workplace) and Corporate Finance (Treasury, Tax, Corporate Development, M&A) — gaining breadth, depth, and enterprise-wide context. Upon completion of the program, participants partner with the program team to identify their next career opportunity, with placement decisions based on performance and business needs.

What you'll be doing
  • Performs and delivers on finance assignments while applying finance knowledge and developing domain specific expertise.
  • Develops strong working relationships with finance leaders, peers, and cross functional partners to accelerate problem solving and execution.
  • Learns and applies institutional context, including financial processes, governance requirements, and enterprise priorities.
  • Identifies process improvements and opportunities to enhance efficiency quality and insight within assigned areas.
  • Maintains awareness of economic industry and regulatory trends relevant to assigned finance disciplines.
  • Supports the preparation of financial summaries, analyses, and materials for management and senior leadership as appropriate.
  • Participates in departmental and enterprise-wide projects, contributing to high-visibility finance initiatives across Corporate and Business Unit teams while building skills aligned with the program curriculum.
  • Carries out duties in compliance with company policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
  • Contributes to analysis, reporting, and insights that support business decision making, financial performance, and strategic initiatives.
  • Builds cross functional knowledge by rotating through different finance disciplines across Corporate Finance and business areas.
  • Collaborates with finance leaders and business stakeholders to deliver analyses of increasing scope and complexity to support enterprise decision-making and build institutional knowledge.
  • Engages in strategic finance initiatives that provide learning opportunities and help build an understanding of how critical financial decisions shape business outcomes.
  • Promotes the use of GenAI and other tools by identifying and sharing practical applications that improve finance processes and workflows.
  • Develops and presents rotational insights to the Steering Committee and senior leadership, synthesizing learnings and recommendations that inform organizational strategy.
  • Builds a strong enterprise perspective and leadership foundation through direct coaching from experienced finance leaders, structured mentorship, and ongoing development sessions designed to accelerate readiness for high-impact roles.
What we’re looking for

Must-Haves

  • 1-3+ Years experience in Finance, Accounting, Reporting, Tax, or Audit that is directly aligned to the specific responsibilities for this role
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience 
  • Commitment to completing all four nine-month rotations, including the required areas in Retail, Workplace, and Corporate Finance.
  • Analytical skills and close attention to detail is necessary
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to adapt quickly in a changing work environment

The pay range for this position is $55,700 - $100,200 with anticipated pay for new hires between the minimum and midpoint of the range and could vary above and below the listed range as permitted by applicable law. Pay is based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Lincoln’s total rewards package for employees.  In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit and individual.  Other rewards may include long-term incentives, sales incentives and Lincoln’s standard benefits package.
