Thompson was founded in 1886 as an orphanage and has grown into an organization operating across the Carolinas, Florida, Tennessee and Kentucky. Thompson's continuum of care encompasses three domains: prevention, mental health services and foster care.  All Thompson programs are trauma-informed and evidence-based/evidence-informed with the intention of building resilience in our clients (ages 0-18) and their families, both virtually and in person. What will you do as a Family Support Worker? 

  • As a Family Support Worker in the Florida Case Management Organization (CMO) department, you will provide transportation of youth to/from out-of-home care placements, to/from school, and to/from visits.  Family Support Workers also supervise parent visits. 
  • A typical day as a Family Support Worker will include managing crises, de-escalating youth and adults, and driving.  As a Family Support Worker, a large amount of time is spent face-to-face with high-needs teenagers, transporting them. Work hours vary based on shift and client demand.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements: 

  • High School diploma/GED required; A.A. preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant professional experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite application software. Must have a reliable vehicle/transportation
  • A valid driver's license
  • Must meet any credentialing, licensing, and privileging standards as they pertain to the department 
  • All potential job candidates must pass a drug screening test, and an extensive background check is required.
