As a family services worker, your primary responsibilities revolve around managing and delivering services to children and families, usually on behalf of a city, county, or state government. You perform assessments, investigate allegations of abuse, and determine whether or not an intervention is necessary for a particular situation. This job involves a significant amount of individual discretion and judgment, but you are always under the supervision of a higher-level administrator who makes the final decision on sensitive matters. Additional duties include interviewing people to get more information, collecting medical reports, and developing a case plan to protect children.
