What is an executive recruiter?

As an executive recruiter, your primary responsibilities are to search for and find qualified candidates to fill executive-level job vacancies for your clients. Your recruiting may focus on a particular industry, or you may recruit for executive positions in all industries. Your job duties include reviewing resumes, reaching out to potential candidates, meeting with clients to understand their needs, and participating in the hiring process from setting up the initial interview to negotiating salary.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an executive recruiter, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Executive Recruiter, you need expertise in talent sourcing, candidate assessment, and a solid understanding of executive-level functions, often supported by a degree in human resources or business. Familiarity with applicant tracking systems (ATS), advanced search tools like LinkedIn Recruiter, and relevant recruitment certifications are commonly required. Strong interpersonal skills, negotiation abilities, and a high degree of professionalism distinguish top performers in this role. These skills and qualities are crucial for building trust with clients and candidates, ensuring successful executive placements, and maintaining a competitive edge in the talent market.

What is an executive recruiter?

An Executive Recruiter is a professional who specializes in finding and attracting highly qualified candidates for senior-level and executive positions within organizations. They work closely with companies to understand their leadership needs and often manage the entire recruitment process, from sourcing candidates to conducting interviews and negotiating offers. Executive Recruiters may work for recruiting agencies or in-house for large corporations, and they play a crucial role in helping organizations secure top talent for critical roles.

What are some common challenges faced by executive recruiters when sourcing top-level talent, and how can these be addressed?

Executive Recruiters often encounter challenges such as a limited pool of qualified candidates, confidentiality concerns, and prolonged search timelines. To address these, recruiters typically leverage extensive professional networks, utilize advanced sourcing tools, and maintain strong relationships with both clients and candidates. Effective communication and a keen understanding of client needs also help in navigating sensitive negotiations and ensuring a successful placement.

What is the difference between Executive Recruiter vs Corporate Recruiter?

Industry UsageCommonly used in executive search firms and staffing agenciesUsed within companies for internal hiring

Job description

Join Amrize as a Bilingual Recruiter and help construct what's next. If you're ready to put your skills to work on projects that matter - and build a career with a company that's building North America - we want to hear from you!

ABOUT THE ROLE

Amrize Canada is Building Ambition across North America, and our Talent Acquisition team is central to that growth. We are looking for an experienced Bilingual Recruiter to join a high-performing team that blends traditional headhunting techniques with modern recruitment technology.

This role supports a high volume of requisitions ranging from hourly general labourers to niche technical roles like Cement Engineers, Plant Managers, Sales professionals, and many more. The ideal candidate is a proactive "hunter" who is comfortable using SuccessFactors, LinkedIn, Indeed but also possesses a genuine curiosity for emerging AI sourcing tools (such as programmatic through Joveo, smarter recruiters, etc.) to identify talent more effectively.

This is a 1-year contract position.

WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Execute Full-Cycle Recruitment: Manage a diverse portfolio of roles, ensuring quality hires for both industrial operations (Cement, Ready-Mix, Aggregates) and corporate functions within established time-to-fill metrics.
  • Proactive Sourcing: Move beyond reliance on job boards by actively mapping markets and headhunting passive candidates for hard-to-fill technical positions.
  • Technology Utilization: Maintain high data integrity within SuccessFactors while utilizing and testing AI-driven sourcing tools to enhance candidate discovery and engagement.
  • Stakeholder Partnership: Act as a talent advisor to Hiring Managers, providing market insights and transparent updates to ensure a smooth hiring process.
  • Candidate Experience: Deliver a professional and responsive candidate experience that reflects the Amrize brand, regardless of the role level.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviours.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
  • Required Work Experience:
    • 3+ years of full-cycle recruitment experience.
    • Experience in an agency or executive search environment is highly preferred (focus on outbound sourcing).
    • Previous experience recruiting for industrial, construction, manufacturing, or engineering roles is an asset.
  • Required Technical Skills:
    • Bilingual in English and French communication skills are required.
    • Proficiency with Enterprise Applicant Tracking Systems (SuccessFactors preferred).
    • Strong knowledge of LinkedIn Recruiter and job board aggregators (Indeed).
    • Familiarity with or interest in AI recruitment tools (e.g., Juicebox, Paradox, Joveo, AI sourcing extensions).

Additional Requirements:

  • Strong organizational skills to manage high volume and variety simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging with both hourly workforce and senior corporate leadership.
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.

WHAT WE OFFER

  • An inclusive and welcoming environment where everyone can be themselves.
  • A collaborative work culture in a supportive and team-oriented work environment.
  • Company-provided personal protective equipment ensuring your safety and comfort on the job.

This posting is for an existing vacancy at Amrize Canada Inc.
