Vice President of Driver Recruiting

The Vice President of Driver Recruiting is responsible for providing strategic leadership, vision, and operational oversight for ATS's driver recruiting group. This role develops and executes comprehensive recruitment marketing strategies designed to attract, engage, and hire high-quality Class A Company, Lease, and Owner-Operator drivers in support of ATS's growth, capacity, and customer service objectives.

As a key member of the leadership team, the VP of Driver Recruiting serves as a trusted advisor to executive stakeholders, aligning driver talent strategies with enterprise priorities and market demands. This leader is accountable for recruiting performance, pipeline development, workforce planning, employer branding, and the optimization of recruitment processes, technology, and analytics to drive measurable business results.

The VP of Driver Recruiting fosters a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement while maintaining appropriate involvement in day-to-day operations to ensure recruiting effectiveness and execution excellence. This role also leads ATS's external recruiting partnerships, industry relationships, and talent sourcing channels, continuously evaluating market trends and emerging opportunities to strengthen the company's competitive position as an employer of choice within the transportation industry.

Through strong leadership, data-driven decision-making, and a relentless focus on attracting top driving talent, the Vice President of Driver Recruiting plays a critical role in enabling ATS's long-term growth and operational success.

Scope Of Opportunity

Strategic Leadership

  • Develops and executes driver recruiting strategies aligned with company growth and capacity objectives.
  • Establishes recruiting goals, performance metrics, and initiatives that support ATS business priorities.
  • Partners with senior leaders to align recruiting strategies, policies, and processes with organizational objectives.
  • Promotes collaboration across departments and locations to drive recruiting success.

Recruitment Management

  • Serves as a strategic advisor on driver hiring trends, workforce needs, risks, and opportunities.
  • Oversees the end-to-end driver recruiting lifecycle, including pipeline development, sourcing, conversion, and hiring performance.
  • Leads recruitment marketing, sourcing strategies, and process improvements to attract and hire top driver talent.
  • Builds and develops a high-performing recruiting team focused on accountability, results, and continuous improvement.
  • Drives recruiting effectiveness through data-driven decision-making, performance metrics, and regular reporting to executive leadership.

Marketing & Employer Branding

  • Leads employer branding and recruitment marketing efforts to enhance ATS's position as an employer of choice among drivers.
  • Develops strategic partnerships with vendors, schools, industry organizations, and other talent sources to strengthen recruiting outcomes.
  • Evaluates external partnerships and recruiting investments to ensure alignment with business goals and return on investment.
  • Collaborates with Marketing to execute targeted campaigns that increase applicant quality, volume, and engagement.
Compliance, Risk & Driver Experience
  • Partners with Safety, Risk, Operations, HR, and Marketing leadership to align driver hiring standards, recruiting processes, and business objectives.
  • Ensures compliance with DOT regulations, employment laws, and applicable federal and state requirements, while proactively adapting processes to regulatory changes.
  • Monitors driver compensation trends and market conditions to maintain a competitive driver value proposition.
  • Collaborates with Operations and HR to enhance onboarding, early driver experience, and long-term retention outcomes.
Financial Management
  • Oversees recruiting budgets, forecasting, and resource allocation to maximize performance and efficiency.
  • Analyzes operational and financial metrics to identify trends, mitigate risks, and improve ROI.
  • Evaluates recruiting investments and incentive programs to drive effective and cost-efficient hiring results.
Leadership & Talent Development
  • Leads, develops, and mentors recruiting leaders and teams, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and high performance.
  • Uses data and performance metrics to monitor results, address gaps, and drive team effectiveness.
  • Supports talent selection, onboarding, training, and development initiatives to strengthen organizational capability.
Executive Leadership
  • Demonstrates and champions ATS values, culture, and leadership expectations.
  • Drives business growth, organizational effectiveness, and leadership development through strategic decision-making and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Performs executive responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws, including travel and availability as business needs require.

Skills For Success:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Human Resources, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent transportation industry experience.
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in driver recruiting, capacity development, or transportation talent acquisition, including leading large-scale recruiting organizations.
  • Deep knowledge of the driver labor market, CDL requirements, recruiting strategies, and transportation industry trends.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute strategic talent acquisition, recruitment marketing, and workforce planning initiatives that drive business growth.
  • Strong business, financial, and analytical acumen with experience using data, metrics, and P&L insights to guide decision-making and improve performance.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence executive stakeholders, lead high-performing teams, and build strategic industry partnerships.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Compensation will be market-competitive and aligned with the scope and impact of the role. Candidates meeting the position qualifications, compensation details will be discussed openly during the screening process, base salary starting at $170,000.00 and base salary offered is determined by relevant experience, education, certifications, and geographic location as compared to others doing substantially similar work. Plus, this role is eligible for position specific, performance driven incentive with realistic earning of $30,000+ annually in addition to base salary.
