Job description

Team UIS is a growing utility infrastructure services platform backed by a Denver-based private equity firm focused on building market-leading lower middle market businesses. The company currently operates four divisions delivering specialized infrastructure services with a mix of fixed-fee and time-and-material contract structures (approximately 60% fixed-fee). The workforce includes union labor operating under prevailing wage and fringe benefit structures, and the organization is preparing for significant growth through operational scaling and acquisition activity.

With an upcoming ERP migration and an active M&A strategy, the business is at an inflection point that requires a finance leader capable of combining strong technical accounting expertise with operational and strategic leadership.

Vice President, Finance

The Vice President of Finance (VP of Finance) serves as the CFO’s primary operational partner, owning the day-to-day accounting function while helping build the financial infrastructure required to support a rapidly growing platform. The VP of Finance leads improvements to the monthly close process, establishes stronger financial reporting and planning capabilities, oversees the company’s upcoming ERP migration, and plays a key role in integrating future acquisitions.

This role is intentionally structured as an 18–24 month proving ground for CFO succession, providing the right candidate with significant exposure to executive leadership, private equity stakeholders, and board-level financial reporting.

Education, Experience and Qualifications for the VP of Finance

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience with clear advancement toward senior leadership roles
  • Direct experience with percentage-of-completion or ASC 606 revenue recognition in a construction, infrastructure, or project-based services environment
  • Experience working in a union labor environment, including prevailing wage and certified payroll structures
  • Participation in at least one ERP implementation or migration
  • Advanced Excel skills with the ability to build financial models, job cost analyses, and scenario planning tools
