Description
The vCIO - Executive Consultant is a strategic leadership role designed to serve as a senior advisor to client executive teams, a collaborative partner to Moser's internal service delivery leadership, and a thought leader in advancing IT strategy, governance, and business alignment. This role functions as an extension of Moser's Director-level leadership while providing executive-level mentorship to Client Solutions Managers (CSMs) and acting as the primary architect for client IT roadmaps.
The role will provide day-to-day virtual CIO (vCIO) services to Moser clients, including executive-level IT leadership, long-range planning, governance oversight, and strategy execution. The Executive Consultant will engage with clients in both proactive and reactive capacities - leading annual planning efforts, steering key initiatives, guiding IT teams through periods of transition, and supporting CIO succession or backfill scenarios where appropriate. The role serves as a key internal collaborator, working cross-functionally across Moser's internal divisions. They will partner closely with the Procurement Services team on vendor management strategies, contract optimization, and sourcing decisions. They will also serve as a bridge across Moser's four professional services divisions - Application Services, Business Services, Core Technologies, and Data & Analytics - helping ensure integrated, scalable, and forward-thinking solutions are designed and delivered to meet evolving client needs.
The ideal candidate brings a blend of executive presence and consulting agility, with a proven ability to influence senior stakeholders, develop actionable roadmaps, and drive digital and operational transformation across diverse industry environments. They excel at navigating ambiguity, aligning teams around a common vision, and elevating IT maturity across people, process, and platform dimensions. This individual will embody Moser's values of transparency, accountability, and strategic curiosity while delivering measurable value through every client engagement.
Role Responsibilities
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to client executives, participating in quarterly and annual IT planning, budget cycles, and strategic roadmap sessions.
  • Lead development and delivery of multi-year IT strategic plans, risk registers, business continuity plans, and IT performance dashboards.
  • Facilitate executive workshops to align IT initiatives with evolving business goals, compliance needs, and growth strategies.
  • Partner with Moser Directors and the Procurement Services team to ensure service delivery and sourcing strategies align with client needs and business priorities.
  • Collaborate across Moser's professional services divisions (Application Services, Business Services, Core Technologies, and Data & Analytics) to design integrated client solutions.
  • Mentor Client Solutions Managers on engagement management, client success, and professional development.
  • Establish and maintain IT governance frameworks for clients, including change control, vendor management, and lifecycle planning.
  • Contribute to Moser's thought leadership through whitepapers, client briefings, and speaking engagements.
  • Analyze industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory developments to inform internal service offerings and client guidance.
  • Lead the strategic planning for each service line, identifying opportunities for growth, process improvements, and technology enhancements.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align service line strategies with the overall vision and goals of the organization.
  • Participate in pre-sales scoping, stakeholder alignment meetings, and executive presentations.
  • Oversee quality assurance for strategic deliverables such as Statements of Work, IT assessments, and technology roadmaps.
  • Identify opportunities for expanding Moser's role and value with assigned accounts.
  • Provide virtual CIO (vCIO) or similar strategic consulting services directly to Moser clients, functioning as an embedded IT executive aligned with client leadership.
  • Deliver value-based, high-impact engagements through ongoing executive advising, IT governance leadership, vendor management, and strategic planning support.
Requirements
  • 10+ years in IT leadership (e.g., CIO, VP of IT, IT Director), with bachelor's degree required; MBA or certifications (e.g., ITIL, CISSP, TOGAF) preferred.
  • Experience designing and executing IT strategy in complex environments.
  • Strong communication and influence with C-suite and boards with business acumen in budgeting and ROI-based decision-making
  • Experience mentoring IT managers or consultants
  • Proven experience in a leadership role managing service lines within a complex organizational structure.
  • Strong background in resource management, engagement oversight, and client relationship management.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, capable of building and maintaining strong client and team relationships.
  • Solid understanding of industry best practices, market trends, and the ability to translate them into actionable strategies.
Where You'll Work
You will have the opportunity to work a hybrid/onsite schedule out of our 2 Indianapolis, IN offices, or work remotely, per the client.
