What is a take home vehicle?

A take home vehicle is a company or government-owned vehicle that employees are allowed to drive to and from work, and sometimes for limited personal use. This benefit is often provided to employees who need to be on call, travel frequently for work, or require transportation as part of their job duties. The terms of use, tax implications, and eligibility requirements vary by employer and jurisdiction.

What are the expectations and responsibilities for employees who receive a take home vehicle?

Employees who are provided with a take-home vehicle are typically responsible for adhering to company policies regarding vehicle use, maintenance, and reporting. This often includes keeping the vehicle clean, scheduling regular maintenance, and using the vehicle only for approved work-related purposes unless personal use is explicitly permitted. Employees may need to track mileage, report any incidents promptly, and ensure the security of the vehicle when not in use. Additionally, they are expected to represent the company positively while operating the vehicle in public. Understanding these expectations is important for maintaining both the privilege and the professional trust granted with a take-home vehicle.
