ABOUT THE ROLE

Delta Hotels by Marriott Norfolk is seeking a detail-driven, people-first Sales & Events Coordinator to support our Sales and Events team. You'll be at the center of the action - managing inquiries, moving leads through the pipeline, coordinating event logistics, and making sure every client feels taken care of from first contact through final execution.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Answer incoming sales and events inquiries by phone and email with professionalism and responsiveness
  • Follow up on leads and route them to the appropriate team members; track lead status and follow-through
  • Schedule and conduct property tours for prospective clients - corporate accounts, social events, and group business
  • Assist Event Managers with preparation of Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), proposals, and event documentation
  • Support client communication throughout the planning process, ensuring timely updates and follow-through on every commitment
  • Maintain organized records of inquiries, contracts, and event files in the sales system
  • Coordinate with front desk, food & beverage, and operations teams to support seamless event execution
  • Assist with site visits, FAM trips, and client entertainment as needed

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Prior experience in hotel sales, events, catering, or a related hospitality or customer-facing role preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills - you represent the property in every interaction
  • Organized and detail-oriented with the ability to juggle multiple priorities without dropping the ball
  • Familiarity with Delphi, CI/TY, or similar sales and event management software is a plus - we'll train the right person
  • Team player who takes pride in their work and genuinely enjoys working with people
  • Reliable, professional, and comfortable in a full-service hotel environment

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position is primarily office-based with regular time at a desk using a computer and phone. The role also requires the ability to walk the property and event spaces during tours and event oversight, and occasionally assist the team with light setup tasks. Specific requirements include:

  • Ability to walk, stand, and move throughout the property for tours, site visits, and event monitoring
