Job description

Associate Technical Designer
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Associate Technical Designer provides support in the development of apparel products by assisting with fit sessions, tech pack updates, and sample evaluations. This entry-level role is ideal for someone looking to grow their technical design skills while contributing to the accuracy and consistency of product specifications and construction.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Assist in preparing and updating tech packs, including measurements and construction details based on Technical Designer, Senior Technical Designer or Manager direction.
  • Support fit sessions by taking detailed notes, capturing images, and documenting feedback.
  • Measure samples and compare them against specifications to ensure accuracy.
  • Communicate fit and construction updates to vendors under the guidance of senior team members.
  • Maintain seasonal tech reporting.
  • Assist with special projects as assigned by the Manager.
  • Support administrative duties as assigned by the Manager.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Apparel Design, Technical Design, or related field.
  • 0-2 years of experience in apparel technical design or product development.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:
  • Basic understanding of garment construction, fitting, and grading.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Office; PLM and 3D design software experience is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communicator and team player.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimal travel required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Regular computer work, and sitting
  • Occasional walking, standing, and lifting up to 50lbs

INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT
  • Performs duties within scope of general company policies, procedures, and objectives. Analyzes problems and performs needs assessments. Uses judgment in adapting broad guidelines to achieve desired result. Regular exercise of independent judgment within accepted practices. Makes recommendations that affect policies, procedures, and practices.
