Position: Apparel Technical Designer
Duration: 7 months contract
Location: Beaverton, OR (Hybrid Schedule - 4 days onsite/Fridays remote)
We’re looking for a Technical Designer with expertise in construction, fit standards, textiles, trims and graphics to be part of our creative team. The ideal candidate needs to be a creative problem-solver, strategic thinker and have strong project management capabilities – they can communicate effectively & demonstrate credibility and reliability. The Technical Designer will support the team with technical recommendations that serve our consumers and communicate issues or offering solutions in a fast-paced environment.
The Technical Designer owns the fit and construction from initial concept through to commercialization and production for assigned styles to lead to on-time development and delivery according to critical dates, product specification, and sustainability, performance and profitability goals.

- Bachelor's degree in apparel design, textile science or related field.
- Additional product creation experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- 8+ years technical design experience in the apparel industry, which includes the apparel development process from inception through production including pattern making, grading, construction materials, costing, manufacturing and quality.
- Strong problem solving, organization and communication skills.
- Experience interpreting design intent, offering alternative solutions, and acting as a technical resource.
- Expert in writing product specs and construction standards instructions.
- Proficient working with factory vendors to ensure and improve manufacturability.
- Ability to manage multiple projects.
- Experience using Adobe Illustrator, CAD Pattern Design software (Optitex) and 3D software (Clo/Browzwear) highly desired.
- Proficiency with MS Office programs.
Desired Candidate Profile:
- Minimum required years of experience: 8+ YOE in Technical Pattern Design for Factory Production
- Education requirements: Bachelors or equivalent
Must have skills:
- Experience in Pattern design with material including: Hardwovens, denim, twill, jackets, fixed waist bands, similar to carhearts
- Leading fit sessions, writing fit comments and notes
- Portfolio: technical design pattern examples for apparel design, jackets or pants patterns are ideal, must have lifestyle apparel
Nice to have skills:
- 3D software design experience
- Pattern design, apparel construction, designing patterns for factory production
- Can take constructive criticism well, is a team player
