Job description

Transportation Dispatch Coordinator

This position is responsible for the safe, efficient and profitable scheduling and dispatching of Motor Coach Drivers. Transportation Dispatch Coordinators are to supervise and report any drivers for not following Company safety policies as well as those states under FMCSA 49 CFR. In certain locations the Dispatch Coordinator is responsible for also auditing trip documentation with logbook and expense receipts upon driver's arrivals and departures. Assists the Safety Director with issues pertaining to safety.

Job Specific Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and dispatch drivers as required by passenger flow.
  • Assist field staff with coordination of routes.
  • Manage driver compliance - housekeeping, daily inspection policies, timesheets, log books, etc.
  • Assist management to ensure transportation compliance and associated rules and regulations are being adhered to
  • Coordinate and manage all permits and vehicles as required
  • Manage and communicate vehicle issues with the Maintenance shop
  • Coordinate maintenance schedules with shop management
  • Maintenance of files associated with drivers and transportation compliance.
  • Maximize utilization of drivers and internal equipment.
  • Coordinate and track location of units and drivers utilizing GPS system
  • Communicate and record departure/arrival times to all runs to the corresponding terminals
  • Communicate driver issues to the Dispatch Director.
  • Administer driver training and maintain accurate training, vehicle, and safety records in compliance with all provincial and federal transport regulations
  • Communicate weather conditions to drivers
  • Coordinate alternate routes due to weather or traffic conditions
  • Assist Dispatch Director with the discipline and termination reports
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience: 2- 4 years of dispatch experience Bilingual (English and Spanish) Required

Education: High school diploma or equivalent
