Job description

The Manhattan Nursing Home of The New Jewish Home (TNJH) is seeking aย Director of Clinical Resource Systems/HIMย  to join out team! This position will sit in 120 West, 106th Street in the Upper, West side of Manhattan.

JOB SUMMARY:ย  ย ย  The Director of Clinical Resource Systems/HIMย  is responsible for the integrity of paper and electronic patient data throughout The New Jewish Home.ย 

REPORTS TO:ย  Nursing Home Administrators and collaborates with all programs in TNJH.ย 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:ย  ย  ย  ย  ย 

  1. Ensures that patient records are maintained in an organized, accurate, comprehensive and secure fashion.
  2. In collaboration with administration, responsible for reporting issues to our insurance carrier through their online portal.
  3. Ensures that records of discharged patients are complete and maintained according to facility policy and DOH regulation.
  4. Creates and keeps current policies and procedures to ensure that patient information is collected, stored and secured, according to regulation.
  5. Ensures that diagnosis coding is done accurately and in a timely fashion.
  6. Ensures that patient/family requests for copies of patient data are processed and realized according to facility policy.
  7. Works with the legal department to ensure that all medical/legal claims received are processed according to facility policy.
  8. Works with Risk Management team to ensure potential legal/risk issues are reported to carrier and records maintained as needed
  9. Works with colleagues to ensure that patient data is available for audits being conducted.
  10. Hires, trains, supervises, supports, and evaluates all staff working in the HIM departments.
  11. Ensures payroll is completed accurately and in a timely fashion for all staff working in the HIM departments.
  12. Develops, monitors and meets the annual budget expectations of the HIM departments.
  13. Coordinates/facilitates statistical report preparation as requested.
  14. Ensures that the client and family experience with HIM is optimized.
  15. Keeps current of all new regulations/updates related to health information.
  16. Other duties as assigned.
