ASSISTANT GENERAL MANAGER
Position Summary
The Assistant General Manager supports the General Manager in leading the overall operations, sales performance, and member experience of the club. This role is responsible for driving membership growth through direct sales execution, coaching team members, maintaining operational excellence, and ensuring company standards are consistently upheld. The Assistant General Manager leads by example, developing a high-performing culture while delivering an exceptional experience for every member. This job description is based on the responsibilities outlined in the Assistant General Manager Incentive Agreement.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Sales Leadership & Revenue Growth
• Lead daily membership sales efforts through prospecting, tours, referrals, and community outreach.
• Execute daily sales activities, including outbound lead calls, follow-up, appointment setting, and membership sales.
• Generate point-of-sale referrals and promote Success Sessions.
• Support personal training revenue growth through quality member onboarding.
• Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly sales performance and implement action plans to achieve club goals.
Team Leadership & Development
• Assist with recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and training new team members.
• Coach Sales Associates and Member Experience Experts on sales performance and member service.
• Hold team members accountable to company standards and KPIs.
• Foster a positive, high-performance culture built on accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
• Support employee development through regular coaching and feedback.
Operations & Member Experience
• Ensure the club remains clean, organized, fully operational, and aligned with brand standards.
• Assist with inventory management, club maintenance, and operational checklists.
• Deliver outstanding customer service while proactively resolving member concerns.
• Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and operational standards.
• Support opening and closing procedures and maintain a safe environment for members and staff.
Financial Accountability
• Support labor scheduling and payroll management to maximize productivity.
• Monitor club expenses and assist with managing operational budgets.
• Analyze club reports and performance metrics to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Drive membership retention through exceptional service and proactive member engagement.
• Assist the General Manager in achieving club profitability and financial goals.
Communication & Execution
• Participate in daily huddles, weekly meetings, and monthly performance reviews.
• Communicate promotions, operational updates, and company initiatives effectively.
• Partner with the General Manager to execute strategic initiatives and improve club performance.
• Ensure consistent execution of company standards across all operational areas.
Qualifications
Required
• Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience in fitness, retail, hospitality, or another sales-driven environment.
• Proven ability to achieve sales goals and lead high-performing teams.
• Strong leadership, communication, and coaching skills.
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
