Job description

Overview VTG is seeking a highly qualified Deputy Program Manager with extensive knowledge of Submarine or related systems to assist in the management of programs supporting the next generation tactical systems being deployed to US Navy submarines. This position will also have technical leadership responsibilities to help guide an engineering team. This position is based in Manassas, VA, with some hybrid privileges.

What will you do? The Deputy Program Manager will apply program management skills to support many small programs for multiple program managers across the portfolio. The Deputy Program Manager may also be responsible for one or more small programs as the primary program manager.

The Deputy Program Manager will provide directions for the execution of multiple projects in support of submarines and related efforts at VTG. The candidate will lead a development team in an Agile environment, ensuring the team completes tasks on time and on budget. Responsibilities include assigning tasks to engineering teams, setting long and short-term project goals, negotiating with vendors and clients, ensuring the project stays within time and budgetary restraints, and compiling program briefings.

The candidate will participate in cross-domain working groups to coordinate prototyping efforts, briefing results to senior engineers and managers in government and industry. This position requires an imaginative thinker with experience to conceive, develop and evaluate novel solutions to address the unique requirements of the operational environment. The candidate must be a motivated self-starter who thrives with limited supervision.
