Summary:
This position will serve as a system leader over Northern Light Health's Credentials Verification Organization, leading best practice administrative management services for all aspects of the department. Leadership accountability will be expected in managing and overseeing all department operations and activities by demonstrating current practices and by using and integrating technology. The Director will be responsible for developing systems and policies that support Northern Light Health's mission and strategic plan and will serve as a champion for continuous process improvement. A key performance area will be regulatory and accreditation knowledge and compliance.
Responsibilities:
Program Management
Plans, implements, organizes and oversees a comprehensive credentialing verification program
  • Directs all aspects of a credentialing verification system.
  • Researches, selects, controls, and maintains Northern Light Health's credentialing software.
  • Establishes, influences and implements system design and department workflows.
  • Leads comprehensive and technologically driven processes to ensure continuity, accuracy, completeness and timeliness.
  • Protects the integrity and security of the database.
  • Manages vendor relationships.
Designs and directs the use of process and performance improvement data to implement change
  • Oversees continuous improvement efforts.
  • Collaborates with key staff and clients on managing an ongoing reporting process that is accurate, timely and action driven.
Controls the administrative support of operating documents
  • Ensures that all documents are compliant and current.
  • Protects permanent records by overseeing a secure record retention process.
Plans and manages strategic and daily activities of the department
  • Responsible for adequate staffing.
  • Collaborates, develops, and is responsible for the implementation of long and short-term goals.
  • Establishes standards and analyzes workflows that promote best practices and champion innovation.
  • Controls and manages departmental funds.
  • Develops and oversees the CVO budget.
Plans and manages an effective meeting management system
  • Directs meeting activities (agenda development, documentation, follow-up and communication).
  • Provides guidance on accreditation, regulatory issues, national standards, best practices, meeting outcomes and resolution.
CVO and Client Collaboration
  • Serves as the primary liaison between the CVO and medical staff/system leadership.
  • Ensures adherence to CVO and client agreements.
  • Leads technology integration and migration with other information systems.
  • Manages requests to generate customized reports, perform additional verifications and provide added services.
Regulatory & Quality Compliance
Interprets, develops and implements practices of all systems and functions to ensure continuous compliance with regulatory agencies and accrediting body standards [CMS, JC, NCQA, AOA-HFAP, AAAHC, URAC, etc.].
  • Controls ongoing education of team.
  • Directs and oversees client audits, findings and reports.
  • Serves as a CVO representative on Northern Light Health teams or delegates when appropriate.
  • Oversees the CVO's participation in accreditation surveys.
  • Leads Northern Light Health's effort toward NCQA and URAC accreditation. Maintains accreditation once obtained.
  • Oversees and implements delegated credentialing agreements, including credentialing audits.
  • Responsible for operational quality indicators and departmental performance.
  • Assures that workflow, information systems and policies and procedures are current and appropriately maintained.
Leadership
Supports education, professionalism, practice-based learning and systems-based learning.
  • Responsible for recruiting, training, mentoring, evaluating and disciplining staff.
  • Cultivates positive interpersonal relationships with clients, medical services professionals, practitioners, ancillary staff and senior management.
  • Promotes ongoing education.
  • Consults with medical services professionals, individual practitioners, senior management, ancillary staff (i.e., IT, Payer Contracting), physician recruitment, and legal.
Other Related Functions
  • Assures that human resources are managed in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Establishes work standards; promotes best practice by continually assessing department processes and championing innovation and best practice.
  • Provides ongoing interface with relevant medical staff leaders and hospital administration.

Other Information:
  • MD Staff Certified Expert preferred. Experience leading delegated credentialing agreements preferred.
  • Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) or Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) required.
  • Certified Provider Enrollment Specialist (CPES) or Provider Enrollment Specialist Certificate (PESC) required, or achievement of certification as determined by leadership.
  • Achievement of MD Staff Certified Specialist required, within timeframe determined by leadership.
