Internship Summary:

Under the mentorship of the Manager, Talent Acquisition, collective HR Team, as well as the Legal & Strategic Initiatives Associate, the intern will gain hands-on experience with the day-to-day functionalities and operations of Human Resources and Legal department in a global health non-profit organization. The Intern will support the process of onboarding and offboarding colleagues and consultants and engage in the intricacies of HR and legal document management, providing the intern with the learning opportunity to handle sensitive employee, organizational and legal information securely and efficiently. This internship aims to provide a broad and immersive understanding of the HR administration and legal field, as well as a unique blend of learning, growth, and hands-on experience.

Responsibilities:
  • Support the HR document management projects by organizing, electronically filing, and conducting quality control on employees' documents, including immigration documentation.
  • Assist with onboarding and offboarding processes for US based staff, ensuring appropriate communication channels are established and maintained to facilitate seamless transitions for new hires and departing employees.
  • Support the IAVI Employee recognition
  • Assist on HR compliance matters and learn about relevant
  • Share findings with a presentation at the end of the
  • Support the legal team with arbitration matters and sit in on strategy meetings.
  • Assist with the preparation of Confidential Disclosure Agreements, contract amendments, and other contract lifecycle needs.
  • Conduct ad-hoc legal research as requested by the legal team.
  • Assist with the preparation of Board of Directors meeting materials.

IAVI and the intern acknowledge that the internโ€™s responsibilities do not displace regular IAVI employeesโ€™ responsibilities. It is also understood that the intern is not entitled to full time employment at IAVI at the conclusion of the internship.

Learning Objectives:
  • Learn about HR document management
  • Gain practical insight of the day-to-day HR and legal operations in a complex non-profit, global research organization, including observing how the team handles routine administrative tasks, manages employee inquiries, and supports the wider HR
  • Develop an understanding of the contract negotiation process, specifically learning how to draft and negotiate Confidential Disclosure Agreements within a global R&D context.
  • Learn about the general organizational legal practice and corporate governance within a complex global research organization.
Goals to accomplish:
  • Become proficient in HR and legal document management system and processes, as well as experienced with handling sensitive legal topics and documentation.
Education Requirement:
  • Must be in pursuit of an undergraduate
Hours and Compensation:
  • Full-time, approximately 35 hours per
  • This internship will pay $20/H.
Note:

Throughout the internship, the intern will be given opportunities from across the organization to learn about IAVI as an organization and its business. To support their professional learning, a written evaluation will also be provided by the manager at the end of the internship.
