Terminal Operator

Sprague has an extensive network of terminals located throughout the Northeast and our operations team prides themselves on the smooth, efficient, and safe operations of these facilities. We are currently looking for a Terminal Operator to join our team in Bridgeport, CT. We are seeking an operator capable of a wide range of duties in a gasoline/oil tank farm/bulk handling facility. Work is performed outdoors in a maritime environment 24 hours a day.

This role's primary schedule is the Friday–Monday night shift. Candidates must also be adaptable and able to work various night shifts throughout the week as operational needs arise.

Duties / Responsibilities :

  • Assisting with mooring vessels
  • Offloading barges and vessels
  • Gauging of tanks
  • Conducting and managing inventory of liquid product
  • Maintenance and repair of loading racks and storage tanks
  • Maintenance of grounds, buildings and/or equipment
  • Conducting scheduled equipment inspections and repairs
  • Operation of terminal equipment and machinery
  • Customer service

Education / Experience / Skill Requirements:

  • Experience in a bulk fuel storage plant a plus but not required
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge of basic math including fractions
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Good computer skills
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Ability to obtain a TWIC card
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to do shift work including holidays, and overtime as needed

Physical activity/strength requirements are demanding and may include:

  • Frequent standing, walking, sitting, entering/exiting trucks, climbing stairs, ladders, and slopes
  • Frequent grasping, handling, reaching forward
  • Occasional bending, stooping, crawling, kneeling, neck flexion/extension, reaching overhead, twisting, balancing, and squatting
  • Frequent lifting/carrying up to 20 lbs.; occasional lifting/carrying up to 100+ lbs. (e.g., oil, steel parts, spouts, tools)
  • Occasional pushing/pulling up to 100+ lbs. (e.g., mooring lines

Starting pay is $31.42 per hour, with the potential for a higher starting rate based on relevant industry experience. An additional night shift differential of $2.25 per hour also applies.
