Job Overview

The Development Associate provides proactive and responsive support to advance AVANCE North Texas fundraising, donor engagement and community partnership efforts.


In partnership with the Executive Director and Chief Development Officer, this position supports fundraising strategy implementation, donor stewardship, grant administration, prospect research, sponsorship development, fundraising events, and donor database management.


The Development Associate plays a key role in strengthening philanthropic support, expanding donor relationships, supporting Advisory Board engagement, coordinating fundraising campaigns, and ensuring accurate fundraising data and reporting. This position serves as an important connector between development operations and revenue-generating activities that support the long-term sustainability of AVANCE North Texas.


This is a hybrid position, and there is an expectation this position will attend events and meetings in person, as well as regular office hours.


Job Responsibilities


Donor Database and Grants Management

  • Responsible for CRM database structure, enters and coordinates data entry for donor records, donation tracking, gift processing, donor rolls, prospect lists, performance tracking and ensures donor database records are kept up to date.
  • Define and generate CRM reports and build dashboards for leadership.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance and support the CRM migration, rollout, and implementation efforts for HQ and the Chapter network.
  • Assist with grant tracking throughout the grant lifecycle, including deadlines, reporting requirements, documentation, and compliance.
  • Collaborates closely with Finance to ensure accurate tracking of pledges, donations, grants and sponsorships
  • Research donors, foundations, corporations and community partners to identify funding opportunities.
  • Maintain and actively grows a pipeline of prospective individuals, corporate, and foundation donors.
  • Prepare donor, sponsor, and funder profiles for cultivation and solicitation meetings.
  • Assist with grant proposal development, data collection, narrative preparation, and grant reporting.

Donor Stewardship, Fundraising & Corporate Partnerships

  • Conduct donor research and prospecting.
  • Maintain donor cultivation and stewardship schedules.
  • Assist with donor pipeline management and move management activities.
  • Support implementation and evaluation of the annual fundraising plan.
  • Create donor impact reports, gift acknowledgements, and stewardship communications.
  • Support annual giving campaigns including Giving Tuesday, year-end appeals, and other fundraising initiatives.
  • Coordinate donor stewardship activities including thank-you calls, donor recognition efforts, impact reports, and stewardship events.
  • Support sponsorship identification, cultivation, solicitation, and fulfillment for fundraising events.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining corporate partnership opportunities, including volunteer engagement and in-kind support.
  • Support individual donor cultivation activities, including scheduling donor visits, preparing materials, and tracking follow-up actions.
  • Assist with Advisory Board fundraising activities and donor engagement efforts.

Marketing & Communications Support

  • Collaborate with the Social Media Coordinator to develop fundraising-related content for social media, email campaigns, newsletters, donor communications, and the website.
  • Assist in creating fundraising collateral, impact stories, donor spotlights, and campaign materials.
  • Support development and execution of digital fundraising campaigns

Administrative Support

  • Coordinates development-related meetings, donor visits, sponsorship meetings, and fundraising activities.
  • Maintains fundraising files, grant records, donor documentation, and tracking systems.
  • Supports meeting preparation for Development Committee and Advisory Board fundraising activities.
  • Provides administrative support related specifically to fundraising, grants, donor stewardship, and development initiatives
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements:

Education


Required:

  • Associate degree or equivalent

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's Degree and/or two years' professional experience in a development support position
  • Bilingual English/Spanish


Work Experience


Required:

  • Three to four years of professional experience in an administrative, project management, and /or development support position

Preferred:

  • Demonstrated experience in fundraising and event planning
  • Experience with Donor/Customer Relationship Management databases, including data entry and report generation
  • Prior experience developing donor appeals content for the website, social media, e-mail, e-newsletters and e-appeals and fundraising events.
  • Demonstrated interest and experience improving early childhood outcomes for children and families
  • Work experience in grants management and reporting functions

Travel

  • Travel required up to 20% of the time for work-related site visits, meetings, and functions.
