External Communications - Senior Manager

Deloitte's Marketing, Brand & Communications team is seeking a strategic external communications and public relations professional to drive marketplace growth through integrated brand PR, media relations, and paid media collaboration. This role will develop and execute external communications strategies and campaigns that amplify Deloitte's highest priority growth areas, in close collaboration with senior leaders and cross-functional teams across brand, communications, and media. The successful candidate will help strengthen the Deloitte brand, elevating priority offerings and narratives, and position leaders as trusted voices through coordinated earned and paid amplification.

  • Lead Brand PR team for US External Communications and elevate Deloitte's brand storytelling via the media, working in collaboration with Brand leadership.

  • Develop stronger collaboration between paid and earned media teams, including strategy development and execution to maximize Deloitte's investments.
  • Work collaboratively with Brand Research & Insights team to develop data-based messaging for media relations initiatives that drive the Deloitte brand forward.
  • Advance the measurement of the team's impact and value to the firm, leveraging AI tools to generate new insights into media coverage and recommending ways to evolve messaging, target key media outlets, and meet business goals.
  • Help lead the external communications team, counseling colleagues on brand narrative, messaging, PR considerations and other strategic thinking to ensure the Marketing, Brand & Communications team is positioning the Deloitte brand in the strongest light.
  • Manage external PR agency resources to extend capacity, ensure quality execution, and deliver against strategic objectives.
  • Guide and coach team members and direct reports.
  • Bring innovative ideas to advance the overall external communications team in terms of techniques and new tools.
  • Operate with strong project management discipline, balancing multiple priorities and stakeholders to deliver consistently high-quality results on tight timelines.
  • Identify and implement innovation opportunities, including integrating AI into workflows where appropriate to improve speed, quality, and effectiveness.

Qualifications

  • Must have prior Deloitte Experience 
  • Communications professional with a minimum of 12+ years relevant experience 
  • A bachelor's degree, preferably in Communications, English, Public Relations, or Journalism
  • Proven success in developing and executing external communications strategy and communications plans for a large business, preferably in professional services
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and presentation skills, including the ability to interact with and coach senior leaders and highly intellectual thinkers
  • Strong listening and persuasive communication skills; able to gain consensus through influence and ability to pivot when warranted
  • Experience in measuring the effectiveness of communication strategies 
  • Negotiation and critical thinking skills; flexibility and adaptability
  • High-level proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint, Outlook and Word. Knowledgeable in all aspects of Microsoft Office and ancillary programs as well as with media relations platforms such as Muck Rack and Meltwater.
  • Understanding of GEO and interconnectivity between media relations and LLMs
  • Travel up to 10%

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
