Your opportunity:

One full-time temporary position:

The Commercial Intern will support the Commercial team in managing and optimizing the performance of Capital Power's U.S. flexgen assets through commercial analytics, contract support, and daytoday asset management activities. Working closely with Operations, Finance, Supply & Trading, and other internal stakeholders, this role offers handson exposure to how largescale energy assets are operated, analyzed, and financially managed in the power generation industry.

This is a great opportunity for a student who wants practical experience applying analytics, business judgment, and collaboration skills in the energy sector.

What you will do:

  • Supporting analysis related to commercial contracts, asset performance, and operational data

  • Assisting with tracking key commercial obligations, deliverables, and deadlines

  • Building spreadsheets, summaries, and simple visualizations that support decisionmaking and internal discussions

  • Coordinating information between Commercial, Operations, and other internal teams

  • Supporting adhoc projects related to contract support, asset optimization, risk management, or market activity

  • Aid in annual budget preparation and long-term plan activities by gathering inputs and updating trackers

What you will bring to the role:

Education

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program (Business, Economics, Finance, Engineering, Data/Analytics, or related field preferred)

  • Strong interest in the energy or power generation industry

Experience

  • Prior internship, coop, or relevant academic project experience is an asset

  • Experience working with data, reports, or technical information is an asset

  • Strong organization skills and ability to manage multiple tasks with guidance from the team.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with PowerPoint, Word, and SharePoint

  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills

  • Ability to clearly communicate information in writing and verbally

Professional Skills

  • Collaborative and comfortable working with multiple internal stakeholders

  • Detailoriented with a strong sense of ownership and followthrough

  • Able to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt as needs shift

  • Curious, proactive, and willing to learn new concepts/tools
