Description

Position Title:

Collection Officer

Reports To:ย 

Collections Department Managerย 

Basic Function:ย 

Contacts and collects delinquent loans that are past due. Works collection accounts as they become 31 days delinquent.ย 


Responsibilities:ย 

  • Begins collection process on all accounts listed on 31-60-day delinquent loan print-out, updates all information on computer pertaining to member and/or co-makers; works with member to resolve delinquent status either in person or by telephone; works delinquent student loans following guidelines set by Texas Guaranteed Student Loan Corp., up to and including filing claims.ย 
  • Continue working delinquent loans 61 days or more delinquent.
  • Contacts members and/or insurance company regarding insurance problems, sends notice of default and intent to accelerate loan when problem is not resolved.ย 
  • Prepares loans for repossession when necessary.ย 
  • Files disability insurance or credit life for member. Assists with questions regarding MasterCard delinquencies, forgeries, application, and payments. Assists members with a charged off loan or delinquent account which is not 30 days past due.
  • Answers all calls for skip tracing.
  • Adheres to all Red River Employees Federal Credit Union policies and procedures.ย 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • One to two years in collection of delinquent accounts preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficiently operate RRCU personal computer and standard office equipment.ย 
  • Patient and firm individual.ย 
  • Ability to meet, speak, and deal effectively with people, being professional always.
  • Must maintain a neat and professional appearance.
  • While the following list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented, identified physical requirements include the ability to operate normal office equipment and some lifting, not to exceed 25 pounds.

Probationary Period: 90 Days

Salary Grade: 6

Salary Range: $16.30 - $24.46

Wage & Hour Status: Non-Exempt
