Position Summary:

The Courtesy Officer is responsible for patrolling the property to ensure the safety of residents, staff, and visitors. This role includes monitoring the premises, preventing theft and disturbances, and responding to emergencies as needed. The Courtesy Officer plays a key role in maintaining a secure and welcoming community atmosphere.

The ideal candidate is observant, professional, and proactive in identifying and addressing potential security concerns.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Security Patrol: Conduct routine patrols throughout the property every 30-60 minutes to ensure safety and security.
  • Incident Prevention: Monitor for signs of intrusion, theft, vandalism, disturbances, or unsafe conditions.
  • Emergency Response: Respond to emergencies, assist in evacuations, and contact law enforcement or emergency services when necessary.
  • Visitor & Vendor Management: Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of visitors and vendors, ensuring proper escort and documentation.
  • Incident Reporting: Investigate and document any accidents, suspicious activities, or safety hazards, providing reports to management.
  • Resident Assistance: Provide support and assistance to residents and guests as needed while maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor.
  • Light Maintenance & Administrative Support: Perform light maintenance tasks and office duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent (preferred)
  • Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field (preferred)
  • Ability to handle conflict professionally and de-escalate situations when necessary
  • Strong observational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. and tolerate various weather conditions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Compassion for and a desire to work with the elderly
  • Must pass a criminal background check and meet all health requirements
