***THIS ROLE REQUIRES RELOCATION TO DETROIT, MICHIGAN***

Picturesque boutique property is seeking a passionate Executive Chef to oversee a food-centric F&B program that features scratch cooking as their core, including bread, pasta, and pastry made in house. Looking for an adaptable, detail-oriented chef with a mix of ingredient-driven restaurants and luxury property experience. Ideally, an individual who fosters a positive environment and exemplifies thoughtful, motivating leadership while embracing the Detroit community.

Very open to an Executive Chef from a primarily restaurant background!

Executive Chef Responsibilities include:

  • Elevate and drive culinary program forward, including seasonal menu updates, scratch programs, and finding unique local purveyors
  • Maintain a positive work environment through effective, professional communication with other employees and managers
  • Lead, mentor, and train a strong team
  • Administrative tasks: ordering, inventory, scheduling, etc.
  • Proactively manage costs and labor
  • Ensure best practices for safety and sanitation in the kitchen

Executive Chef Preferred Requirements:

  • 2+ years of senior culinary leadership experience as an Executive Chef in respected restaurants and boutique properties or 4+ years as a Chef de Cuisine or Executive Sous Chef leading a high volume operation
  • Boutique hotel, luxury hotel, or Forbes starred experience
  • Background in restaurants required, ideally with some acclaim such as James Beard or Michelin
  • Familiarity and/or love for Midwest!
  • Experience in managing inventory and cost controls
  • Excellent communication skills and leadership qualities
  • Flexibility and adaptability to the property's needs as they arise
  • Passion for both food and guest satisfaction
  • Flexible schedule, including weekends, and on holidays
