Evaluate combined, joint, multi-service, and Joint Staff concepts in order to analyze, validate, modify, edit or develop to support new document developments. Review new systems, concepts, organizations, equipment, and personnel in support of maneuver missions and other activities in support of JEDD. Reports to the Senior Editor, the Lead Editor, and the Project Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Edit book manuscripts accepted for publication to scholarly academic standards, focusing on both content and style.

  • Coordinate corrections with authors and assist in selecting photographs, charts, maps, and other illustrations.

  • Proofread and supervise the indexing of the final copy.

  • Provide feedback to manuscript editors and suggest development/training opportunities

EDUCATION
  • Associate degree or equivalent in Business Management; Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or other related disciplines is preferred.

  • High School degree with 2 years of experience in the areas listed in the experience category, is an acceptable substitution.

EXPERIENCE
  • Demonstrated success in two (2) or more of the following areas:

  • Knowledge of joint or Service doctrine development and publishing processes.

  • Experience with document formatting features of software tools.

  • Experience editing documents according to set standards for order, clarity, conciseness style, and terminology.

  • Experience with editing software such as Microsoft Word, Adobe, CorelDraw and Photoshop.

  • Expertise in document formatting features of software tools.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong communication and presentation skills. Able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English. Able to design and write clear communications and present training programs.

  • Excellent organizational, planning, problem-solving, prioritization, and interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent computer skills required. Proficient in the entire suite of MS Office and able to quickly learn additional systems.

WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Required to sit or stand for extended periods of time and maintain focus.

SPECIAL POSITION NOTATIONS
  • Occasional travel CONUS/OCONUS may be required.

  • Qualification as an authorized company driver is required. All authorized company drivers must have a valid driver's license, current automobile insurance, and a driving record that is acceptable to the company's auto insurance provider.
