Job Description
EPS Corporation is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Technical Writer to support programs for the U.S. Navy and Department of Defense (DoD) in Panama City, Florida. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating, editing, and maintaining clear and accurate technical documentation to support engineering, operations, and program management teams.
Requirements
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in technical documentation writing and editing.
  • Ability to deliver high quality documentation paying attention to detail
  • Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text and pictures
  • Excellent written skills in English
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Must be a self-starter and able to conform to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines
  • Strong organization skills, attention to detail and excellent follow-through skills are required
  • Determine the needs of end users of technical documentation
  • Study product samples and talk with product designers and developers
  • Work with technical staff to make products easier to use and thus need fewer instructions
  • Organize and write supporting documents for products

  • Review materials for clarity, punctuation, grammar, and content; work closely with designers and manufacturer
  • Perform informational research and gathering of vendor spec sheets to be used as Engineering Data for Provisioning (EDFP)
  • Participate in Maintenance Demonstrations and procedure validations of designed equipment

Desired Skills/Other Considerations
  • Undergraduates' degree in journalism, communications, business, logistics, English, applied science, mathematics, engineering or other fields
  • Experience in reading engineering drawings and/or working with engineering teams
  • Experience developing procedures and/or other forms of technical documentation such as Technical Manuals, Bills of Materials (BOM's), Associated Parts Lists (APL's), Identifying Support and Test Equipment (S&TE), and detailing PHS&T requirements, etc.
  • Experience or willingness to learn DoD Logistics search engine tools for provisioning (i.e., PUB LOG)
  • Experience relating to Training development
  • Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) NAVSEA Level II Certification and use of MIL-STD-1334 to develop Condition Based Maintenance (CBM)
  • Performance of Level of Repair (LOR) Analysis for newly designs systems
  • Development of Program Plans such as Life Cycle Sustainment Plan (LCSP) or Maintenance Plan (MP)
  • Graphical Illustrating through the use of Adobe suite programs to develop maintainability and supportability products
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Access and/or Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator.
