Job Summary:
Mainspring Energy is revolutionizing power generation with innovative technology and is seeking an Associate Technical Writer to create and maintain high-quality manufacturing and service documentation. The role involves collaborating with a diverse team to ensure documentation supports various audiences and transitioning technology from engineering to production.
Responsibilities:
• Execute Onsite Documentation: Work fully onsite in Menlo Park, at times in our manufacturing shops. Your work will begin with a hands-on “learning by doing” period, participating in the assembly of our latest product
• Author Technical Content: Produce new and edit existing digital manufacturing documentation, including installation, testing, and service operations, in accordance with standardized documentation styles
• Generate Technical Visuals: Frequently use CAD software (including Solidworks and Composer) to create visuals facilitating technical understanding of our product
• Manage Revision Control: Help develop and implement systems for company-wide documentation management and revision control to ensure accuracy across the organization
• Support Industrial Engineering: Participate in build sequence planning, efficiency improvements, and a variety of other projects to support our global manufacturing partners
• Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work collaboratively across a diverse team of technicians, engineers, and managers in an environment where attention to detail is critical
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
• 1+ years of professional experience in technical writing, documentation control, or a related engineering/manufacturing environment is preferred
• Excellent writing, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; native-level proficiency in English is required
• A practical, 'hands-on' approach with prior experience using shop tools and mechanical assembly
• Proven ability to create and interpret technical visuals, including CAD models, schematics, and process flows
• Proficient using Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides); basic experience with CAD software is preferred, but training will be provided
• Exceptional attention to detail paired with a strong interest in deeply understanding complex mechanical and electrical systems
• Strong organization and prioritization skills with the ability to distill complex processes into clear instructions
Preferred:
• 1+ years of professional experience in technical writing, documentation control, or a related engineering/manufacturing environment is preferred
• Basic experience with CAD software is preferred, but training will be provided
