We are a 67-Bed Progressive Care Unit Adult Medicine & Specialties

Our Progressive Care Unit cares for a diverse adult patient population requiring an elevated level of monitoring and nursing expertise. Nurses on this unit develop strong critical-thinking skills while caring for patients across multiple specialties, making this an excellent environment for growth and skill advancement.

Patient populations and clinical experiences include:

  • AdultMedicine, Surgical, Cardiac, Neurology, and GIpatients
  • Patients withICDs, Permanent Pacemakers (PPMs), and Life Vests
  • Post-pericardial window,chest tubes, andPleurX catheters
  • CIWAmonitoring and management
  • Neurologic patients, includingNIHSS stroke scaleassessments andQ2 neuro checks
  • Ventilator patients with tracheostomies
  • New or continuous, hemodynamically stable BiPAP patients
  • CAPD patientswith cardiac conditions requiring PCU level of care
  • Insulin dripswithQ1 glucose monitoring
  • Pregnant patientsrequiring Progressive Care Unit level of monitoring

Scope of work

Under the direction of the nurse manager or other nursing leader, the assistant nurse manager has responsibility for the effective implementation of the philosophy, goals, policies, and procedures of the hospital and the nursing department and their effect on patient care in the department.

Qualifications

  • Effective June 1, 2025, a bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) Required.
  • Two years of clinical experience Required.
  • Participation in leadership activities (Unit, hospital, or system Shared Governance meetings, Precepting, Charge nurse role) Preferred.
  • MI Registered Nurse (RN) Required.
  • AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required.
