Job description

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a Network Technician to join our growing team within infrastructure operations. You will work in a dynamic environment to drive the stability and sustainability of our next-generation networks and assist in the development of innovative ways to automate and scale our network.
The position's responsibilities include scaling support of several data center locations and day to day assistance with capacity management. Our ideal candidate is sufficiently autonomous, detail oriented, possesses strong written and verbal communication skills and has some experience in supporting large scale, enterprise class networks

Network implementation and troubleshooting skills combined with a proven documentation methodology is also a requirement.
You will leverage your experience supporting large scale, enterprise class networks as well as network implementation and troubleshooting. As a Network Technician you will work in a fast paced, collaborative environment with regular peer and customer interaction. In addition to providing management and support of Amazon Web Services vast network infrastructure, Network Technicians establish and follow best practices and refine operational procedures.
*Daily responsibilities include:*
* Manage work and priorities through ticketing system and workflows to complete customer requests and projects.
* Work closely with our Network Engineering & Network Technical Project Manager teams to ensure fast, smooth rollout of established designs and products.
* Up to 20% travel within geographical work area may be required

Some travel outside traditional work area may be requested.
* Troubleshooting cabling infrastructure connectivity issues, including patch panels and patch cords.

1. Strategic Planning & Design Management
a. Contribute in developing comprehensive 6-8 months network implementation roadmaps aligned with AWS DC expansion targets

Create and optimize network position layouts and rack placement strategies for data centre floor space utilization
c. Review and contribute to High-Level Design (HLD) documentation
d. Coordinate with engineering teams to validate technical requirements and design specifications

Develop capacity planning models to ensure infrastructure scalability
f. Create standardized planning templates and methodologies for network implementations
2. Project & Resource Management
a.

Lead end-to-end project planning for multiple concurrent network implementation initiatives
b. Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, milestones, and dependencies
c. Manage project scope, and quality parameters

Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies
e. Improvise and optimize planning by incorporating lessons learnt of latest deployed projects, iteratively.
f. Coordinate across cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on project deliverables

Track and report weekly project progress and/or otherwise informed to key stakeholders
3. Supply Chain & Inventory Planning
a. Develop project inventory forecasts and requirements

Optimize developed counts by utilizing prior surplus spares.
c. Coordinate with procurement teams for strategic resource acquisition
d. Manage vendor relationships and delivery schedules

Establish and stick to procurement timelines aligned with project schedules
4. Program Governance & Process Excellence
a. Establish and maintain project management frameworks and best practices
