Job description

Summary of the Position: As a Controller you will be responsible for planning and directing the accounting operations of the Nestucca Ridge Family of Companies. You will oversee the people and processes of the day-to-day operation of the Accounting Department.
Key Accountabilities:
• Oversee the people and processes of the Accounting Department, which include accounts payable, accounts receivable, monthly, and annual financial statements, and bank reconciliations.
• Supports the Director of Accounting in the preparation of periodic financial statements, activity reports, financial forecasts, and annual budgets.
• Owns Standard Operating Procedures documentation.
• Ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) or international financial reporting standards.
• Oversee training programs and identify training needs.
• Ensure proper inventory practices are being upheld by all locations.
• Advise business units on and assist with implementation of accounting and budgeting policies.
• Execute recommended benchmarks that will be used to measure the company's performance.
• Provide financial analysis, with emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
• Ensure all files are organized and ready for audit upon request.
• Monitors budget vs actual variances. Escalate to Director of Accounting when needed.
• Work with external auditors and provides needed information for the annual audit.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
• Highly collaborative with leadership and communicate key levers to improve margins.
• Train and develop finance and operations teams on financial acumen and policies.
Requirements
Preferred Skills:
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or business Administration.
• Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in accounting, preferably in the hospitality/restaurant industry
• Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
• Prioritize conflicting needs; handle matters expeditiously, proactively, and follow-through on projects to successful completion, often with deadline pressures.
• Demonstrate a proactive approach to problem-solving with strong decision-making capability.
• Be a forward-looking thinker who actively seeks opportunities and proposes solutions.
• Advanced level interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders, including employees, managers, and vendors.
• History of implementing best practice finance and accounting systems
