We are a high-growth organization expanding organically and through strategic acquisitions. We are seeking a detail-oriented Assistant Controller to help scale the finance function during this phase of growth.

Role Summary

The Assistant Controller supports a high-performing accounting function by ensuring accurate financial reporting, delivering insights to Sales and Operations, improving processes through CCS systems (including AI tools), and supporting the integration of acquired businesses. This hands-on role suits someone who thrives in a fast-paced, multi-state environment.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Operations & Reconciliations

  • Perform monthly bank and general ledger (GL) account reconciliations.
  • Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
  • Administer the corporate credit card program, including expense coding and policy compliance.

Treasury & Cash Management

  • Prepare daily and weekly cash reports.
  • Support treasury activities, including wire transfers and monitoring bank activity across states.

Reporting & Month-End Close

  • Support month-end close to meet deadlines.
  • Prepare schedules and workpapers for annual external audits and state/local audits.
  • Analyze variances to support decision-making.

Compliance & Regulatory

  • Support multi-state tax compliance in partnership with third-party tax providers.
  • Maintain and renew business licenses across operating locations.
  • Ensure compliance with union collective bargaining agreements (CBAs) related to payroll and benefit allocations, where applicable.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 5+ years of progressive accounting experience; facility services, construction, or another multi-location service industry preferred.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Software: Workday experience is a plus. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with mid-to-large tier ERP systems.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of GAAP. Familiarity with Union CBAs and multi-state payroll/tax requirements is a significant plus.
  • Attributes: Detail-oriented, able to manage competing priorities, and focused on process improvement.
