Banyan Search is conducting a search for a Regional Controller that can operate remotely out of the Denver, CO area. Candidates local to that area will be considered:

Position Summary

The Regional Controller provides financial oversight and support across a multi-branch region, partnering with operational leadership to monitor performance, strengthen internal controls, and drive accountability at the branch level. This role combines hands-on fieldwork with core accounting responsibilities and includes regular travel to branch locations.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with regional operational leaders to monitor and improve financial performance across the district.
  • Provide support, training, and accountability to branch accounting staff on internal controls, ERP systems, and company policies.
  • Review weekly and monthly reporting for exceptions and follow up to ensure corrective action is taken.
  • Lead financial statement reviews with branch personnel, driving variance analysis and supporting budget performance.
  • Oversee weekly cycle counts and annual physical inventory counts.
  • Maintain the integrity of local ERP systems and data flowing to the corporate accounting group.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of branch accounting personnel.
  • Support the corporate accounting group, external auditors, and audit processes as needed.
  • Assist with integration efforts related to mergers and acquisitions as the business grows.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of hands-on managerial accounting experience.
  • Experience with ERP and accounting systems required, with Advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to translate financial information for an operational audience.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities across multiple sites.
  • High ethical standards and sound judgment regarding financial stewardship.
  • Willingness and ability to travel approximately 25-30%.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA license, or active progress toward CPA licensure.
  • Experience with multi-unit organizational structures.
  • Prior field finance experience within a distribution, retail, or branch-based business.
