Job description

Position:  Assistant Controller

Location: Wheat Ridge, CO

Compensation: $115K- $130K

RemX is proud to represent our prestigious industrial construction client in the Denver Metro area who is seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to support and strengthen their financial and accounting operations. Reporting directly to the Controller with a dotted line to the CFO, this role plays a key part in managing the close process, maintaining strong internal controls and ensuring full compliance with GAAP. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on accounting professional who thrives in a dynamic environment and is motivated to lead process improvements while developing a high-performing team.


Responsibilities


  • Supervise, mentor, and develop junior accounting staff, promoting adherence to established processes
  • Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards
  • Lead and manage month/year-end close processes, including journal entries and GL reconciliations
  • Develop, implement and monitor internal control policies and procedures to safeguard company asset and ensure compliance
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors, preparing schedules and documentation
  • Partner with Controller to support budgeting and forecasting activities including variance analysis and financial planning
  • Identify and implement process improvements to streamline accounting operations, enhance efficiency and reduce costs
  • Support financial transformation and system improvement initiatives


Requirements


•       Min 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, with prior leadership responsibilities preferred

•       Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

•       Advanced knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements

•       Highly knowledgeable with multi-state sales and use tax laws

•       Excellent organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail

•       Ability to work effectively and efficiently and to meet deadlines with multi-shifting priorities

•       Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams and levels of the organization

•       Advanced MS Excel skills and experience working with accounting ERP

•       Proficiency with Vista View and/or Timberline a plus
