Summary:
The Senior Accountant applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports by performing the following duties:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Primary responsibility is monitoring Balance Sheet Prepaid Assets, Fixed Assets, Lease Accounting and Accrued Liabilities in addition assist with Period End Close.
  • Prepaid Period Account Analysis on Specific Assets and Accrued Liabilities accounts.
    • Track Prepaid, Intangible and Fixed Assets on weekly bases, verify proper posting to General Ledger, that they meet the Company policies and procedures.
    • Monitor Accrued Liabilities.
  • Work in conjunction with the Budget and Accounts Payable team on all accruals verifying accuracy and reporting.
  • Monitor lease agreements and prepare rent schedules.
  • Work with tax team on property tax returns.
  • Monitor and Audit Company Fixed Assets.
    • Review Purchase Orders for Repair & Maintenance to proper classify expenditures.
    • Reconcile Equipment in Inventory.
  • Reconcile and prepare journal entries for Prepaid asset and intangible amortization. In addition, Period depreciation for all fixed assets.
  • Assist with analyzing Balance Sheet Accounts on period basis and report on variances to last period balance.
  • Assist in documentation and monitoring of internal controls.
  • Other projects as assigned.

Position Requirements
Qualifications/Skills:
  • Bachelor's or higher degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Strong understanding of accounting theory and practice
  • CPA designation preferred, but not required
  • 3- 5+ years accounting/finance experience
  • Experience in the retail or restaurant industry preferred
  • Highly detail oriented and organized in work
  • Ability to meet assigned deadlines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service focus
  • Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish objectives
  • Proficiency with email and Microsoft Office applications especially with Excel lookup and pivot tables
  • Experience with Great Plains or equivalent and Sage Fixed Asset programs
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving, and results
