Job description

Our client, a well-established family-run business in North Denver, is seeking a hands-on Controller for an immediate contract-to-hire opportunity. This is a great chance to step into a high-impact role where you'll work closely with leadership and help drive the financial health of the business.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, including bank and account reconciliations, intercompany transactions, and consolidations
  • Prepare and present financial statements and reports to the Board of Directors
  • Supervise and support a tenured three-person accounts payable team
  • Coordinate and oversee sales tax audits with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Partner with managers across retail locations to support financial operations and communication

Qualifications:

  • 5-8 years of leadership experience in management and supervisory roles
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, intercompany transactions, and reconciliations
  • Advanced Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs and pivot tables
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on environment
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Experience with Great Plains is preferred

This fully on-site position offers a steady schedule with no overtime, typically from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., in a business-casual environment. The role reports directly to the President, offering strong visibility and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact.
